Uh, Fall themed wedding in August?

Monica SC, on August 18, 2015 at 10:57 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 21

My theme is Fall and my wedding is in October-makes sense to me. I just looked at pics from a wedding a friend attended this past Saturday and the theme was also Fall. Fall colors, Fall leaves everywhere for decor. Just seemed odd to me since it's the hottest part of summer here in SC. Made me think of the girl who asked recently about doing a Halloween type wedding in different month than October. I guess if it was a "Beach" theme I wouldn't bat an eye no matter what the month.

Ugh... I hate beach themed anything - especially if you live in a land locked state! I love Fall themes... I might be able to get into a Halloween theme if its done in a classy way...

I'm gonna have a Christmas in July wedding... Okay no I'm not, that would be tacky! Just like fall on August.

I find beach themed weddings odd UNLESS they are actually on the beach. Beach themed wedding in a big ol' ballroom in March with snow on the ground? Nope. Weird.

Fall themed wedding in August. Weird.

My cousin had a fall themed wedding in April. They had to post pone their original (I think September) wedding so they had it in April. I think they should have just waited a few more months but to each their own, I guess.

Fall theme in August isn't really weird to me but I'm in the Midwest... I always associate end of August with fall anyway. My birthday is August 31st and it's always deadly hot but sometimes the leaves are already starting to change.

A Fall themed wedding in Massachusetts, in August, perhaps more middle August, wouldn't be too out there out of the realm of oddities ... in fact, I have seen a few orangey leaves starting to show on the trees around here. They start selling Shipyard Pumpkin beer in early August, pre-football season starts in August. Would it be my choice to do a fall themed wedding in August anywhere in this country? Probably ... not. We are technically in the dog days of summer. But I know so many people who are over the summer by mid-August around here. Recently I asked one of my friends to go to the beach ... just this past week, as it is 90 degrees here all week. Her reply was I've had enough beach time all summer, my skin is fried, bring on the Fall. So, yeah, to each their own I guess. Also, I suppose it would be even odder in SC ???

My wedding is mid-September and I thought that would be pushing it to have a full fall wedding because it could still be so hot. August seems to early to me, but that's just my opinion!

I think it's weird. August is not fall, it doesn't look like fall, doesn't feel like fall, it's not fall.

Technically our wedding isn't fall-themed, but we are using more fall-y colors (merlot, gold, ivory and blush) in it..and we're barely in September. But a wedding with full-on fall decor in August is strange. Also beach themed weddings are weird to me if you are not at the beach. Sorry.

eta: we didn't choose those colors because they are fall-like..I just liked them, it just happened.

Okay, its about 90-100 degrees outside right now in SC. I wouldn't dream of doing fall themed anything.

Hell, I consider September very much summer around here. With our location/decor combined with the weather/location, we are definitely having a late summer wedding more than a fall. Even up in the upstate where it cools off sooner, I don't think of fall in August. To each his own I guess.

Lol I wasn't aware that SC was a "land locked state". But I agree with the others. If anyone had a beach themed wedding here in Michigan that wasn't on a major lake...major side eye.

No fall weddings until mid/late October! I couldn't even make myself have one on 9/26. It could still be 80 degrees here in Maryland in September/early October. Absolutely NO pumpkins until October!!

I dunno, I think it's a bit odd - I mean why not just have it in the fall?

I think if this was their original plan (to have a fall themed wedding in autumn), but something happened where they couldn't host their wedding during this season is one thing; but if they made the conscience decision to do this, I would think it was a tad weird.

This post is old, but whatever. The key question in all of this is: what does it matter?
It's not your wedding. If it makes the couple happy then it shouldn't be a big deal. Just cause it's weird to others doesn't mean it is to them. Did you spend on their decor? No. So, I would just enjoy it, and support the happy couple on their day. There's no rule book on happiness. Have an open mind.

I think if its your wedding you can do whatever you want. Weddings are about celebrating the couple on a new and exciting chapter in their life. It has nothing to do with the season. I'm having white pumpkins as my main decor and my wedding will be in the summer. We originally wanted october but it was literally thousands of dollars more expensive to have it that month. Would I spend that much money so my wedding decor can match the season? NO. Let people do what they want, its their day.

I was wondering the same thing if white pumpkins would be odd in a month of July, or August. I honestly just truly love pumpkins, but may not be able to do it in the fall.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy its your special day😊 We're having our wedding in August because it was not as expensive and because we'll both be on break from school so it just works out better that month. Our theme is like a neutral Fall with white, green (eucalyptus leaves) and gold. Pumpkins mean a lot to us because we had our first date at the pumpkin patch, went back every Fall for 7 years, and then got engaged at the same pumpkin patch❤ So we're having white pumpkins and don't care what anyone thinks lol its not a seasonal party its our wedding right❤
