Un-Grand Entrance

This is one part of the wedding I haven't been able to figure out. How grand does our grand entrance need to be? Can the emcee just announce everyone? Do we really need a song and a special walk? What are you doing?

OP, are you talking about your entrance as in walking down the aisle or do you mean your entrance to the reception? I've never been to a wedding where the bridal party was announced as they enter the reception but I haven't been to very many weddings so maybe this is standard practice. I haven't really thought about our reception entrance - I figured we'll be announced, everyone claps and then dinner is served. I'm sure I'll have a better game plan closer to the wedding day.

If you're talking about your entrance as you walk down the aisle then hell yes it should be grand! Although I guess that really depends on what your idea of "grand" is. I'm definitely not dancing down the aisle or singing my way down the aisle or anything like that. I'm going to walk down the aisle like a regular bride. But I still feel like it'll be a grand entrance because I'm the bride! What could be more grand than that? Smiley smile

Oh, no I'm talking about the entrance to the reception. I'm definitely having a grand entrance for the ceremony! It seems like a lot of people have a song playing, the BP all come in together, then the bride and groom ("for the first time evaaarrrrrrr......"), all while the emcee is being super enthusiastic about who everyone is. I think it's sort of to mark that the reception is starting? it just seems like one more unnecessary detail to plan, another song to pick out, etc.

We had a pretty grand entrance. Our wedding party danced into the reception to Pharrell's "Happy." DH and I danced in to LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem." We all scattered and grabbed everyone to dance with us the whole song out. It was a great way to include everyone, create a fun environment and get great photos and video. Afterward DH and I had our first dance. http://vimeo.com/110931938

We just walked in, grabbed the mic, and gave a thank you speech. our bridal party was already at the bar.

We were announced into our seated reception by the MC and everyone stood and clapped. That was it.

I did consider us riding in on white horses with a rainbow laser show going behind us, while 10 crates of butterflies were released. Then I decided not to be a douche.

We had one, and it was awkward. I wouldn't do it again in retrospect. We danced in to The Cowsills, "The Rain, the Park and Other Things." It went on too long and DH and I weren't sure if we should dance or not because it wasn't our first dance song. It was the most uncomfortable moment of the entire wedding.

We just did something on the fly. Our DJ was really great at both getting us to do something and getting the guests excited. Each BP couple did a little dance move and then DH dipped me at the end.

We're not going to do anything 'grand' either. Our photographer is leaving shortly after the ceremony, so we will just do a few post shots of us and maybe some family. Meanwhile the BP will already be inside with the other guests and their S.Os. I think it would be awkward to go grab them and make them walk through the door again. For us we will probably just have the DJ quietly announce us and then take our seats.

We did a "grand entrance" we went for pics immediately after the ceremony and the came back after cocktail hour. Everyone walked in in pairs to a song of DH's choice and then when the music stopped my MC quickly introduced everyone...and forgot to introduce us as a couple LOL, but really, introducing the BP was more important than introducing us, since everyone knew who we were already!

I have not even the slightest clue yet. Probably just music.
