As for the dress, I would say be open to trying dresses on even if you think you wouldn't like it. Many brides end up choosing something that they never would've even thought about so definitely be open. It's fine to have inspiration, but I wouldn't be set on trying only 1 style.

As for the food, our menu options were the normal wedding foods (chicken, steak, fish, pasta, etc) we haven't had our tasting yet but we obviously will pick which tastes the best and what we think our guests will like

As for the dress, it really comes down to personal preference. I chose a ballgown because I liked the way the style looked on me and because I wanted to be able to eat and drink comfortably and didn't want to have to worry about being bloated (I found it forgiving in the stomach area, which I needed, as I tend to bloat when drinking alcohol). We chose the food based on the tasting sessions we had with the caterers we were considering. I would highly recommend booking a tasting session with any caterer (or baker, for that matter) that you're considering in order to decide on your food!

I agree with Yasmine on the dress. I had no idea what I wanted (I thought I did but was dead wrong). Bring in some inspiration photos too. Don’t be afraid to say no. I fell in love with the 7th dress I tried but I still said no. I went to another appointment, tried on 5 other dresses but kept comparing them to that last dress. That’s when I knew that I had found my dress!
Food- our venue has an all inclusive package that we opted for. We’re 2.5 hrs away from the venue but we chose it because the majority of our family lives there. The caterer has a list from appetizers, salads, salad dressings, main courses, rolls, types of butter, types of potatoes & veggies. Overwhelming at 1st but once we marked off the ones we didn’t want it was easy. We did our tastings a year out to mark it as done. We did so far out only because my fiancé is a fire fighter for his full time job & is gone the majority of the summer for Wildland assignments. That narrows down our opportunities a lot.

Have you tried dresses on? If not, then I would recommend trying on dresses of all different styles. Mermaids and ballgowns are completely different and you might like one on better than the other. As for food, think about what type of food you and your fiance like. We had to use on-site catering so our options we limited to what they serve. We were however able to custom make our own menu since we didn't use one of their standard packages, but we still only had so many options to pick from.

    Totally agree with Veronica!

I thought I was 110% set on the style of dress that I wanted, but after trying dresses on, I ended up with something pretty different. Ballgowns and other "poofy" dresses shortened my torso in a way that I didn't like, so I ended up with something more form-fitting with a drop waist.
