Undecided on dates

I need advice for choosing a date.
Right now, I have March 28, 2022 in mind because we thought it would be cute since it's our dating anniversary date. We're thinking about Texas as well, no city decided yet. I really want warm comfortable weather for an outdoor ceremony.

The problem is Texas weather! Spring is rainy and thunderstorms. Summer is blistering, oppressive heat. Hurricane season peaks August - September. Smiley sad

It feels like a lot of pressure to choose one date, plan for a year, and pray your date turns out fine. Any ideas?

Take a look at almanac.com and see what date works best for the weather.

Twinsies, we’re March 28 too... I wanna say 2016? That sounds about right. If you’re worried about weather, go with a venue where you either have things planned inside no matter the weather outside, or you can easily move things inside if the weather requires it. Other than knowing what to expect temperature and average precipitation-wise, you can’t really plan for things like hurricanes or floods or... pandemics. In that sense, you’ve just gotta hope for the best, and prepare yourself mentally so you can still enjoy your wedding even if it’s pouring rain outside.

Definitely choose a venue that can accommodate indoor options, or other coverage from the weather.

I’m in Ohio, and while we don’t have to worry about hurricanes, our weather can be unpredictable. For our October wedding, I had to plan for the possibility of scorching heat, rain, or snow. Therefore, our ceremony was held on an outdoor covered patio and worked out wonderfully! The rest of the event was indoors.

I personally think a thunderstorm wedding outside as long as it’s tented properly all around is super romantic. The last thing I’m worried about in all honesty is rain on my wedding day at this point lol

It's a balance because you do want to pick a date but what if when you start booking venues you find that your date is taken. I am 09/04/2022 and that Labor Day weekend date was really important to me. I booked my venue in 08/2020 but guess what, my first venue choice was booked. A lot of 2020/2021 brides are postponing their dates a year and making 2022 fill up fast. I think its important to note what your venue's rules on rescheduling is. Make sure they're flexible to move and book it. If you don't have a venue booked you cannot book anything else.

Now for the weather, I am also a Texas bride and girl I get it, the rain can be absolutely no fun for a wedding. So either find a venue with a solid indoor option you wouldn't mind having as a likely backup, or change the date for a better chance with weather. I am really tied to an outdoor ceremony so I chose September, but my venue does have an indoor option I would LOVE so I'm not worried anymore. Weather websites online have good predictions.

Maybe look for a venue that also an option for an indoor ceremony as a backup. If rain is forecasted or too muddy the week of you can use the indoor space.

As others said, when we looked for a venue it was really important for us to have outdoor/indoor options because we are in New England and November can either be really nice outside or freezing cold. Last year for example, it was almost 65 degrees. So definitely check out venues with those options if you are worried about weather.

As for a date, I would keep an open mind when it comes to a date because your might be taken already. So really decide how important it is to have the date you want when you are looking and if you're choosing a date for sentimental reasons and must have it then, stick to that and eliminate any venues that can't offer you that date.
