Underarm self conscious

Ana, on October 22, 2019 at 8:36 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 15
Hi guys,
So. I always said I wanted a long sleeved dress for a multitude of reasons

1. I liked the way they looked
2. The would cover my arms
3. They would hide my dark underarms

My arms/underarms are the things I'm most self conscious about..
The dress I absolutely fell in love with has off the shoulder straps, and while I dont really mind my hairy arms now, I'm still self conscious about my dark underarms... do you guys have any tips/tricks on how to get rid of the darkness or is this something I'll just have to get over?
Thanks in advance ❤
(I would include a picture of the dress, but my FH is on here and I dont want him to somehow finding the picture lol)

I've had really dark underarms my entire life and the only thing that helped was laser hair removal. Since it is a small/medium area, it wasn't super expensive either. Check groupon in your area! There is one where I live for $100 for 3 treatments. Other than that, I have seen suggestions for using lemon, but I have never tried it. Hope you find something that works!

Agreed. I've had the same issue forever. I did laser and it was completely life changing. It's amazing how much it can improve your confidence to no longer have to worry about something like this on the daily. It's 100% worth it. I paid a lot more than Brianna for mine but I have ZERO regrets.

I saw, and I don't know if it will work, but its cheaper than laser.....using the aztec healing clay under the arms to help with that area...which from what I read, is darkened by the aluminum in deodorant. I plan on giving it a try.

I shave my forearms & got laser hair removal under my arms. The laser hair removal is awesome & I'm so happy I did it! But it's expensive. I have thicker hair (I'm Italian) so it took 6 sessions at $75 a session (so $450 total). Next I'm doing my forearms. If you can't afford laser hair removal, I would look into skin brightening cream (probably on Amazon) and maybe a lemon juice toner? I would also switch to an aluminum-free deodorant, and start waxing vs. shaving.

I have very dark underarms as well, and am currently getting laser hair removal on them! I am 2/6 treatments in! I have already seen a lot of improvement on the area!

You could also try waxing!? See if it gives you the look you desire, even though it is temporary. You could then have it done again the week of your wedding!

I did recently switch to an aluminum free deodorant, but I don't know when I'll see results
Maybe I'll try that clay mask too🤔

I have always been self-conscious about this too and it's part of the reason I wanted a dress with sleeves! This is all great advice. Thanks for posting about this to begin with!!

For those that do laser hair removal, would you say it works with sensitive skin? (I'm just a peeping tom on this post, but I wanted to try it too - I have similar issues but my skin is SUPER sensitive under my arms...)

I did laser hair removal on the sides of my face and I have VERY sensitive skin. I used to wax them (my mom did professional waxing, so she knew what she was doing) and it would lead to days of break outs and itching, but I had almost no reaction with the laser and it also wasn't very painful for me. Different for everyone of course, but I'd say its worth a try.

Ana, if I understand correctly, you are self conscious of dark skin near or at your underarms? Dior just came out with a new face and body foundation that is made to cover tattoos, birth marks, and anything else. Have like 40 shades. Said it's completely water-proof & will not transfer. Think it's called Dior Backstage Face & Body foundation. Go to the Dior site, I know you'll see it. Hope this helps. ❤

I noticed a difference in my skin tone under my arms a few years back, so I switched to Dove deodorant and it actually helped. Depending on how serious it sounds like others had procedures done, but I would recommend trying a few options first. I think within a month I noticed my skin looked better. Good luck!
