Uneven Bridal/groom Parties

Kayla, on April 6, 2022 at 9:45 PM Posted in Planning 7 12
Is it okay to have an uneven number of bridesmaids vs groomsmen? My fiancé has a massive friend group that they all have been friends since the 2nd grade and I just don’t have that. It’s causing me a ton of anxiety and I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it.

Uneven sides are totally fine. It's very rare that a couple each has the same exact number of close friends/relationships!

I have heard it's ok for it to be uneven. Mine is definitely uneven.

It's definitely okay. My fiancé has a decent sized friend group as his groomsmen and I am just doing our sisters as bridesmaids.

Some persons have the wedding party sit during the ceremony. Others have zero (0) bridal party members. It's okay to have the wedding you want.

We will have uneven sides! My fiance will have more groomsmen. I'm not too worried. Quality over quantity Smiley smile

Yea it's fine! you can always do some people walking solo and some walking in 3's or pairs, etc. i've even seen some weddings where no one gets paired up and they just all walk down by themselves

It would bother me, but many are going to disagree with me, and it's a growing trend to have uneven bridal parties. How many women would you feel inclined to ask to be bridesmaids? Do you have sisters, cousins, etc.? If you don't want things to be ridiculously mismatched, maybe ask your fiance if he can narrow his group of friends down to the top however many you'd want to ask, or maybe only have one or two more.

Yes, it's fine to have uneven wedding parties. Our bridal party and grooms party is uneven in numbers. My fiancé has just one more grooms people on his side but it'll work out fine. That's what rehearsals are for!

If it makes you uncomfortable you could just ask your fiancé to cut back. For instance, to a smaller number or to only family and then make the rest ushers. But you shouldn’t feel too weird about it — people have different size bridal/groomsmen parties all the time.
