Uneven Number of Groomsmen & Bridesmaids

Courtney , on June 4, 2018 at 11:34 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13
I had cut ties with a toxic friend who was one of my bridesmaids. The wedding is in 2 1/2 months, and there is really no one else I would like as a bridesmaid. I need ideas for the ceremony to not make it look weird or obvious there are different numbers on each side.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi Courtney! Have you thought about pairing a groomsman with two bridesmaids? This could possibly work to make things look more even!

Hi there! We have different numbers; it's quite normal these days. I have 8; he has 6. I wouldn't worry about it

I wouldn’t worry. My FH and I started with four groomsmen and five bridesmaids. Two groomsmen have dropped out. One for health reasons and another is moving both of state. So now we have two groomsmen and five bridesmaids. I considered having the bridal party sit during the ceremony to make it less obvious, but my FH wants them to stand. So it is what it is.

Just have uneven numbers. Do not ask anyone to step in, that is b listing a friend and it is rude. Lots of people have uneven numbers, I did, you are overthinking it.

Not at all! I have 9 bridesmaids, my fiance has 10 groomsmen. I was in a wedding last year with 4 groomsmen and 6 bridesmaids. It doesn't look weird at all and is barely noticeable!

I was at a wedding where they had two maid of honors and one best man. It worked out really well actually because they were different because they were wearing a different color. So it wasn't weird.

I wouldn't worry about this. I had 3 bridesmaids and he had his brother as a best man on his side. Uneven parties are very common now.

My SIL and brother just got married this past Saturday. She had a bridesmaid drop out with a month to go, which left us with 4 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen. One bridesmaid just walked in with a groomsman on each arm! No one cared/noticed/commented! And it still looked good!

I wouldn't worry about it! You could have the extra groomsman walk with your mom, a grandmother, sister, or aunt.

I had to do the same thing. Now there are 4 bridesmaids and 6 groomsmen. I've noticed that its more common now to have uneven numbers. After the ceremony we will have the 4 bridesmaids pair up with 4 groomsmen and the 2 remaining groomsmen will just walk side by side back up the aisle.
