Unexpectedly Small Wedding - How many declines did you get?

Michelle, on June 21, 2017 at 6:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 84

So my wedding is in 23 days. YAY! But I'm getting really sorta bummed at the number of declines. I had 140 on my guest list. I knew that about 40 of those people honestly didn't have the means to make it to the wedding. So I prepared myself for quite a few declines. But so far only 50 people have RSVPed yes. I still have 72 guests uncounted for but being my wedding is out of state most of our guest should know by now if they are coming.

So out of curiosity how many people did y'all invite and how many of those attended.

    I had about a 50% decline rate. I also had a semi-destination wedding on a Friday night.

It actually ended up being wonderful because I got to add lots of awesome stuff, like a popcorn bar and got to say hi to everyone!

Lucky! Unfortunately we already had everything paid for. We also didn't pay per head so having less people wont save us much money.

We invited 165 and 75 attended. Same situation where the majority of the guest list was OOT.

We invited 175 and 110 attended. We used the extra money to upgrade the food and alcohol a bit.

We invited 162, 104 RSVP'd yes. Thankfully we didn't have a minimum guest count we had to meet so it saved us a lot of money. We were able to add a party bus as transportation for the wedding party.

We invited 178 and 151 are coming. That includes kids. I was disappointed at first too but the declines allowed me to add 3 signature cocktails and late night snacks. Yay!

I love smaller weddings! Our original invite list was around 125, but I'm cutting out most of my first cousins (most would have been declines), so our guest list is 75-80. We're expecting around 70, but we've talked to most of these guests.

We invited 140 guests and will have 108 in attendance. I'm really happy about it because I wanted a small wedding and was very upset at how much the guest list grew towards the end. I think you'll end up around the 75-person mark, which is a great amount of guests IMO!

We had over 30% decline to a non-destination Saturday night wedding that we sent STDs for. It was disappointing, but we had a really good time and we were able to spend more time on the dance floor with our guests.

This happened to us too and i was pretty disappointed about it as well. Semi destination and most guests were OOT, but we had a 50% decline rate. We ended up including lots of extras plus we talked to every single guest during the reception at some point. It ended up just fine, but I definitely understand feeling sad that so many people can't come Smiley sad no matter what, youre going to have a great time and the day of you'll forget all about the declines!

We invited about 65 and had 54 attend. We had 2 no-shows the day of (one was deathly ill, the other just flat out didn't show).

I'm still missing about 30 rsvps, but I won't be surprised if most of them are nos. So far we're only at a 57% acceptance rate, which is really disappointing. I knew a lot of FHs family wouldn't come, but there's a lot of people I invited that asked me if they were going to be invited, yet RSVP'd no.

Invited 60, 55 attended. 2 people were out because of a recent surgery one of them had and 2 couldn't afford the trip to NY. 1 broke up with my friend between the invites and rsvp so he didn't come. We kept the guest list small and knew 4/5 would decline so it wasn't a surprise.

    In town wedding.

Out of 60, 4 said maybe due to not knowing their work schedule and they all work for the same swing shift place. Which is a nightmare about time off. So we have saved a spot for the 4 of them.

0 No's. But again, small number to begin with.

I feel that I will be in the same boat... I was bummed but love the idea of possibly upgrading the alcohol for those who do come. I'm of the belief that those who are supposed to be there, will be there.

Invited about 130 I think and 122 RSVP. This was a local wedding. Day of some people didn't show and others showed up that we hadn't counted in.
