Unexpectedly Small Wedding - How many declines did you get?

So my wedding is in 23 days. YAY! But I'm getting really sorta bummed at the number of declines. I had 140 on my guest list. I knew that about 40 of those people honestly didn't have the means to make it to the wedding. So I prepared myself for quite a few declines. But so far only 50 people have...

I knew that about 40 of those people honestly didn't have the means to make it to the wedding. So I prepared myself for quite a few declines. But so far only 50 people have RSVPed yes. I still have 72 guests uncounted for but being my wedding is out of state most of our guest should know by now if they are coming.

So out of curiosity how many people did y'all invite and how many of those attended.

We invited just over 100 people and turned out to have 40 including my husband and myself. I was really bummed at first to have such a small response on such an important day, but it turned out to be amazing!! We actually had time to socialize with every single one of our guests.

We sent out 100 invitations, but they were to families and plus ones. I am hoping for at least some no's on FMIL side. She invited work friends, my FH 3rd grade teacher! Yes.. 3rd grade teacher! Lol I didn't invite many on my side. We will see what I end up with.

Invited 122, 112 RSVP'd yes.. the declines were mostly ill family members or dates of other guests. most of the VIP's have known the date for 2 years.

We invited 130.. still missing rsvps and at this point the max we will have attend is 102. I'm thinking we will have around 90-95. I was pretty sad at first, but now I'm excited because we were able to add extras like a late night snack and a fancier rehearsal dinner with the extra budget!

We invited 150 (our venue max) and right now we're at 91. I'm still waiting on three RSVPs but I don't think we're going to hit our minimum of 100 at this point. I'm trying not to be bummed out about it. I'm thinking about the things I could upgrade instead! My biggest worry is that the dance floor won't be as packed, but I'm going to put my faith in our DJ on that front.

Most of the declines had other events/vacations (summer is a busy time). We also had a high number of guests choosing not to bring dates, which we were really surprised at. We definitely overestimated our plus ones.

Ours was doomed to be outrageously large no matter what. We invited about 450 and about 350 came.

Our total number invited is 95. We were told there’s a guest minimum of 75. We obviously haven’t sent out invites yet, since it’s a local wedding for most, but we have received some verbal declines. 1 was expected (OOT guests), 1 child of an in-town guest, and 1 that caught me way off guard (childhood best friend and her fiancée are attending his best friend’s wedding OOT. They found out about both weddings at the same time and have chosen to both attend the other…). That makes for 6 total verbal declines. I will still send them invitations in the event that plans change.

If we have a lot of declines I think I’ll bounce back and forth between being okay with it and being a little bummed. I initially wanted a smaller wedding (under 50), but FH wanted his extended family to attend so we upped the list and I added a few more of my friends. I’d love for everyone to be able to attend, but if they can’t, I’ll remind myself of the money we’ll be saving.

    ETA: I can't count...

We invited 270 and with 2 weeks left to go, we already have 35 declines and about 100 acceptances. i'm really hoping our overall number is under 200. we can accommodate everyone but if we have less acceptances i'm going to upgrade our bar.

ETA: OP, there are certain people who i know for sure are coming because they booked hotel rooms but they have not yet sent back their RSVPs (including most of our bridal party, LOL). so you may still get some acceptances Smiley smile

We invited around 140 guests and got about 15 declines. Honestly would have been okay with more declines.

We invited 260 and had 225 attend. Most of the no's were single people who had plus 1's that ended up coming alone.

I wish we had invited less people - your wedding is going to be awesome and more intimate!!

Inviting around 85 expecting about 65 (anything over 50 is good, venue limit is min 50 people).

We are actually surprised, we have had to expand our hotel block a few times due to the number of people that we didnt expect but want to come.

Its a DW on a Friday.

Reading this is making me happy. Our list has ballooned so I'm hoping to get a decent amount of declines!

We invited 124, 88 said yes, 86 showed up. I was also hurt by the number of declines, but in the end I understand not everyone could attend for various reasons. The day of it was still a fantastic day!

I read that the average wedding invitation refusal rate is 15-20% for a non-destination (but can still be OOT) wedding. I didn't want to do a Guest List B send-out so I included a 20% refusal rate in my invitation count. So target 150 guests + 20% refusal rate = 180 invitations being sent.
