Uninvited wording?

Amanda, on October 1, 2020 at 10:22 AM Posted in Planning 0 3

We are making the final plans for our upcoming December wedding and our venue has given us two numbers, either 25 or 54 depending on (I guess) which rule they choose to follow for upcoming events. We currently have 97 guests who have responded YES and need to sadly uninvite many people. Has anyone else had to do this yet? How did you word this? Did you send cards?

I would send a Change Of Plans card in the mail, explaining that due to COVID restrictions and gathering size limitations, you are no longer able to invite them. If you're planning to do a live stream, definitely let them know the details about that! This website has a pretty good template for uninviting guests: https://theeverylastdetail.com/coronavirus-wedding-postponement-email-templates-to-send-to-guests/

That wording is perfect because we do need to also send cards to the people who will make our short list as well!! Thank you!

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this Amanda. ❤️

Are you thinking about streaming your ceremony for those guests you need to uninvite? I definitely think that softens the news, but I also think everyone totally understands gathering size limitations by now!

I've seen a few more wording examples you can also check out in these discussions: how to uninvite guests to wedding due to covid and You are uninvited letter.
