Unity Candle Vs. Sand

I really love the symbolism of a unity candle, but my ceremony venue will be outdoors. I'm kind of scared that the wind will blow out the candles but really prefer candles to sand. What do you guys think?

@ChristineKyle, the marriage ceremony is the damn unity ceremony. These are all extra (and in my opinion, unnecessary as fck).

@Jen Warner - I got something like this at Hobby Lobby. I saw them in Oriental Trader too, but a lot of people said in the reviews that they leaked sand at the ceremony. Did you have any problems with that?

As an officiant, I'd opt for sand. It is much, much more controllable. I have done several ceremonies outdoors where the candles blew out, some multiple times. That said, go with your heart - if you really, really want candles, get glass to go around.
