Unity candles for outdoor ceremony

Mrs. S, on September 5, 2018 at 7:54 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11
I put together this unity set and I feel strongly about my mother and fmil walking in and lighting the taper candles and then us lighting the center candle. But, the officiant told me you can’t do a unity candle at an outdoor ceremony. Any recommendations from experience? I am looking for glass votives to put on top of them that can be easily lifted for lighting and then put back on but I’m not having much luck.

Is that only at your venue that you cannot do a unity candle or is that a law or something?

We did a unity candle at our outdoor ceremony and it was fine. It took a few tries to light it, but by working together and shielding the flames from the breeze with our hands we were able to do it.

Oh no, people just keep telling me they will blow out during the ceremony if there’s any breeze

I was at an indoor wedding recently and they blew out! Lol. Hurricanes would be a huge help....just make sure you lift them from the bottom!

I was at an outdoor wedding where they tried doing the unity candle but the candles kept blowing out as soon as the couple lit them, it went on for a good 2 minutes until they gave up Smiley ups they made the best out of the situation. I think you just take a gamble when using fire outdoors!

I just had an outdoor ceremony and even though my mom really wanted me to do the unity candles, we skipped it and did a sand ceremony instead. Since we were by the lake, I didn't even want to take a chance with the flame getting blown out by the wind.

Oh yeah, something our pastor suggested was to do the unity candle indoors during the reception. So, if you have a place to go inside, you can try that if you want. Just gather whoever you want to watch it inside with you and your groom Smiley smile
