Unity Ceremony Alternatives

We are looking for alternatives to the traditional candle or sand ceremony. Preferably something we can hang or display in our future home. Any ideas? I've also looked at the braid, but looking for other ideas.

We are doing the sand ceremony into a personalized shadow box to be displayed at our home.

We are also jumping the broom...African American tradition...I am planning to decorate it myself and display it as well.

I will go on the record; I hate offbeatbride.

I'm doing a sand ceremony because my parents never bought me sand art experiences at local fairs. #90skid4lyf

Thank you! This has been very helpful. The reason I hesitate with the sand ceremony is I'm a clumsy person, I'm worried I would knock it over or something and it would then forever be a part of my carpet. I'd love some kind of lasting wall art or something like that. I like the tree idea too. I know the unity ceremony is not necessary, but it's something that's important to us and it's kind of a breather moment in the ceremony for me. I love that we'll have something to look back on years later, besides just pictures.

Do you know your background? If so look up traditions from your culture that may be fun.
