Unity ceremony ideals??? Help!!

FutureMrsCasey2018, on May 31, 2016 at 9:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 42

Hi there- I am interested in what you all have decided to do for the unity ceremony. I am not really into the candle idea and the sand is ok but I wanted to know what new ideas are out there- we are doing a Disney "Up" themed wedding do anything relatable is preferred like a balloon vase for the sand or something travel themed. Starting planning and just looking for help. Side note made our suitcase cards box and I love it lol

    Love your theme!

There's lots of options out there for you now. A personal favorite of mine it the Wine Ceremony. Look it up! You also don't have to have a unity ceremony if you don't find any that you like.

We had two different ideas: padlock ceremony for combining families & an oathing stone. I'm on the app sonI can't post the wording for either, but you should be able to Google them. I got the oathing stone from Etsy.

If only Celia was here I'm sure she'd have a ton of great suggestions.

Take turns blowing up balloons together. JK. Maybe pour paint over a ballon or cloud shaped canvas?

^as cute an idea as that sounds balloon releases are terrible for the environment and are essentially littering. We wrote letters to each other and then nailed the box shut during the ceremony, which was fun.

Maybe you could both bring photos of different places you want to travel together and different itineraries and place them in your own "Adventure Book" during the ceremony?

My favorite unity idea i've seen is planting something together.....fh is from HI and im from CA so I was considering having him place dirt form his state and me form mine into a pot of our favorite plant or tree. I thought it'd be cute watching it grow with us.....my love for this idea possibly stemmed from Andie & Benjamin's "Love Fern" in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days lol!! I love it.

Celia has mentioned wine tastings, chocolate tastings, & other things. You have time. Wait til she comes back and ask again.

I really dislike Disney but I saw the movie when it came out and wasn't there a photo album of some significance? Maybe you could take pictures (either pre taken or wedding selfies lol) and put them in a album decorated like up? To symbolize the beginning of your marriage together?

We did a puzzle. We chose one of our engagement portraits along with a verse that meant something to us. Each of our parents, grandparents, siblings, and our officiant placed a piece on before Nathan and I placed the last few pieces in together.

We're having a beach wedding and we decided not to do a sand ceremony, but a seashell ceremony instead. Everyone who attends will get a seashell, they will hold them up to be blessed during the ceremony, then FH and I will get to keep them all. I thought that was a cute idea

Honestly I think the balloon thing sounds perfect, and I might sound like an asshole but one or two balloons is not going to make that much of a difference (cue the mass amount of release shamimg, idc, they're not butterflies or birds that will die in 2 minutes, they're freaking balloons that take up a quarter inch of space. Shit happens, move on.)

Also unrelated but my friend got an up themed canvas for her guest book and people signed the balloons. Cute!

I read it as OP asked for any ideas, but that anything UP related would be preferred. Smiley smile

    BOOM biodegradable balloons http://qualatex.ca/

I googled biodegradable balloons and get tons of hits so it is a possibility, so you don't have to worry about hurting the environment

I think you should tie two balloons to each other and watch them float away (if you have an outdoor ceremony)

I don't want to divert this thread, but please stop with the balloon releases. Latex balloons are not actually biodegradable. Even ones that advertise this take 2-3 years to breakdown in the environment. Animals will also eat them and they will die. It might just seem like one day to you, where's the harm, but if lots of brides all over the country think that then we'd have tons of balloons released.
