Unity ceremony including toddler?

mimmalee, on August 7, 2016 at 1:12 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7

I have been scouring the internet for ideas other than a candle or sand ceremony that we might be able to include our 3 year old son in, but I can't find anything that seems like it would be a good idea for a toddler to help us with. But it's really important to FH and I to have him included in it! Is anyone else including their toddler in the unity ceremony or the whole ceremony somehow? Any ideas?

I personally am not having a unity ceremony but i dod come a across a few ideas before. One of the the couple taped their last name on a canvas and each person got their own color paint to splatter onto the canvas. Seems more kid friendly than sand or open flame and you could still end up with a beautiful piece pf art to display.

I like that! We had considered making a garden stone with quikrete or something similar and putting each of our hand prints on it with our last name at the top.....but it seems awfully messy lol everything seems messy when you include a toddler! haha

I've included toddlers in the unity sand -- even ones young enough that we had to keep them from trying to drink/eat the sand. Parents can help the little ones pour the sand. And the kids love it!

We have a one year old and a two and a half year old, and we plan to include them in a sand ceremony. I think my 2 year old will do just fine, we'll see about the little guy Smiley winking

I've seen couples do the unity ceremony with sand with their kid. The bride, groom, and child had different colors.

The one I see the most is sand. I like the hand tracing too.
