Unity Glass Ceremony! So excited!!!

ThatGirl, on July 29, 2018 at 9:58 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
I saw some posts a bit back about the unity in glass ceremony, and was instantly obsessed with the idea. I love the idea of doing the unity ceremony and have something real and tangible after the fact. I always thought the sand ceremony was cool but also saw myself knocking it off the table and destroying it within a month of getting married. What I was not obsessed with was the price, the main place everyone seemed to be pointing to was about $500... I did a lot of research and found a glass studio with a much better price tag... items start at $125!!! Still up there when compared to a candle or sand, but FH and I agree it was a splurge we wanted to take. The best part, maybe, the shop is less than an hour from my house so I was able to drive up to it have a consult look at the glass colors pick up my glasses and talk to the actual artist he would be making our sculpture. We decided on a vase and to stemless wine goblets, and are getting it for $275. And because the place is close to home I don’t even have to worry about shipping I can just drive up and pick it up when it’s ready.

I’ve been obsessed with this idea too when I saw it and also scoffed at the $500 price tag! I love the idea of finding a local shop. My FSIL is getting married this September and she’s doing the $500 option but now I just feel like I can’t do the glass ceremony any more because I personally don’t like doing things that someone I know very closely is doing. Especially with us getting married less than a year later. It makes me sad to let the idea go when I haven’t thought of something I like better. 😞

Maybe do a private one with you and FH? If youre doing a first look or at some other private time? Then you still have the output?

That’s so cool! Since it’s so close have they given you the option to watch them make the items? You won’t be able to take home that day but it may add to the experience.

I asked, and sadly no... for whatever reason it’s not part of the system. But they did give us extra glass and said after the wedding we could come do a workshop and make something ourselves ... extra cost but we may decide it’s worth it.

You should take the glass blowing class! I did one a few years ago and it was so much fun and such a memorable experience. You won’t regret doing it!

I've been looking for a place other than the $500 option and I just can't find one. Please share the name if you don't mind. I'm obsessed with the unity glass and will be doing it even if I have to splurge and spend $500!

It’s called Hot Shop Glass in Racine, Wisconsin. They have been great to work with so far.
