Unplugged Ceremony...

For those of you that did an unplugged ceremony....did you have a welcome sign stating this and how did people react? My FH thinks we should put the info in the invitations but I'm not sure about that yet. I want everyone to be present and when our photographer takes pictures, for phones not to be...

I've been to an unplugged ceremony where the officiant kindly asked people to put away their phones and cameras during the ceremony. Worked for the most part except for 1 guest.

Thank you everyone for the comments! I love the idea of the officiant making an announcement before the ceremony starts. We aren't doing a wedding website so this is the best thing I think we can do that will make sure people know and understand our wishes.

I felt the same way. I didn't want to seem like a controlling dictator by making it a sign or putting it into the invite suite, so our officiant is just going to ask everyone to turn off and put away electronics for the duration of the ceremony.

So - WHEN would the officiant make the announcement ? between pre-service music (while guests are coming in) but before processional? That seems weird, but that's the only time you'd get everyone without it being "too late"!

I agree with this if you're going to do something like this. We necessarily didn't have an unplugged ceremony but we did have our officiant tell everyone to silence their phones before our bridal party began walking down.

I would do a sign at the ceremony AND have the officiant make an announcement. Because we only 15 guests at our DW, we e-mailed guests a week before (several have fancy cameras). We said something like we'd rather have photos of them enjoying our special event and to refrain from taking pics during ceremony and cocktail hour--before or after they were welcome to play paparazzi!

We forgot to tell one guest and she was fine during ceremony but ruined our welcome speech by standing up at the dinner table the entire speech, with her iPad in our faces, blocking guests' view and our photographer's view. Her pics were dark anyway. Ugh. The fear of an unplugged wedding is real.

This photo makes me cringe but is hilarious at the same time. Ms. Lady with the blue was not playing. she was getting her photo! Smiley xd I would gag if I paid a professional to get this back. Unplugged it is.. I hope my guest will respect it!

    I know, right?! Smiley xd

We also have so many great pics of people enjoying themselves at our wedding. So happy. And because we had a 2nd shooter, we asked our photographers to capture some posed and candid guest shots because we thought it would be so nice to give guests great photos of them all dolled up and/or with their SO/spouse.

I am trying to avoid sign overload. If there are too many, people will ignore them. We put it on our website and the officiant will make an announcement before the ceremony begins.

Yay! As a wedding guest, I'd love a pro pic of me & my hubby. Smiley love

We put the pics on a file-sharing site then e-mailed the link to guests to download any they wanted. I don't want to post without permission but we have super-cute posed pics of our guests. My sis & her DH kissing, friends making silly faces, with a beautiful resort background.

Our vendors were a big part of our day too and we asked for a few photos of them to remember their music, the great drinks they poured...
