FH and I are considering semi-"unplugging" for our honeymoon and staying off of social media, only using our phones to capture some special moments on camera. Have you done this? Would you consider it? I want to be fully present while we have our first trip as husband and wife. It sounds like a great idea to me, but I'm primarily concerned about family and friends trying to contact us while we're gone and I don't want to seem rude by just ignoring. Would that be rude?

We plan to do this, but we tend to do this on all of our vacations. Just give your family the name and number of the place you're staying in case of emergency

I think it would be rude to my FH if I were on social media or the phone on our honeymoon and vice versa. We "unplug" for every vacation. It'll be nice for you and your SO to be alone together after your wedding with no distractions. Just enjoy!

The world survived many years without the Internet and even more without social media and cell phones. You will do just fine.

My mom and I always do this when we vacation together. We let family members know beforehand.

We did this when we went on a 7-day cruise and it was awesome!! We didn't use our phones at all and didn't have computers either. Best week of my life!

I think if you are only concerned about coming off rude to family and friends, do it! You could always explain prior to the honeymoon what your plan is. You could also designate a half hour or so each night to checking your texts and phone calls if it is a big concern

It’s absolutely not rude and makes total sense! If you’re deeply concerned about it, go somewhere international and blame your lack of communication on high rates!

I think unplugging for your honeymoon is a great idea! FH and I will probably be almost completely if not completely unplugged (besides maybe taking pictures and navigation). We’ve been long distance for 2.5 years and when he visits sometimes I won’t touch my phone for a whole weekend. It wouldn’t be a big adjustment or issue for us.
