Unresponsive venue- 2weeks out help

Nelli, on April 19, 2021 at 8:18 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
My wedding is in 2 weeks and things have been pretty stressful with the venue i am having my reception at. They seem very nonchalant about things. They take 2 to 3 days to answer my simple questions. Like whats the earliest I can come in to set up the day of? Theyre main number directly goes to someones cell phone who barely answers. I text the contacts I have and they answer when they want. I am very frustrated and anxious that the day of the wedding they won't come through.
They haven't sent me a floor plan, they said that I can give them a headcount the week before. I havent given them any food options. I really don't know when they plan on requesting this from me.
Any advice on how to handle? I am very frustrated 🤨 i want to call and curse them out!!!!

I’m so sorry you’re having this added stress! Can you go by the venue and try talking to someone that way?

I wish! The venue is NY and I live in GA. I will be heading to NY next Wednesday. Thats my opportunity to just go to the venue every single day until the wedding. Which is so ridulous for me to do.

Oh no! I'm sorry you're so stressed Nelli!! Smiley heart

I'd sit down and make a comprehensive list of all of your questions for the venue (what time can you set up, when do we lock in the food selections, when do you need a final headcount, can I get a copy of the floorplan, etc.) Email your full list of questions to the venue so that they have them all in writing, and include a clear follow-up date ("Hoping we can get all these outstanding questions answered by X date!" or "Please let me know! I'd love to have all these final details locked down by X date").

I'd allow at least 2-3 business days between each response, but your wedding is coming up soon I wouldn't hesitate to follow up!

We had the same problem with our first venue pick. I actually thought we lived in the same area because your complaints/concerns are eerily similar. We forfeited our deposit and moved on to a more reliable venue. That small loss was worth it to prevent a disaster on our wedding day or not having enough time to book a different venue had we waited.

I sent the main contact i have a long message explaining my concerns and asking for a better contact. I expressed that i wasnt confident they would be up and running the day of the event and needed answers yesterday. He wrote back and apologized for their lack of response and explained they have been very overwhelmed and under staffed. He has been the only person working recently. He assured me that the day of the wedding would go as planned and not to worry since they had an event last week that went very well. He just hired an event coordinator and promised to have them contact me today.
Today he texted me and said he hadnt forgot about me and he is working with the new event coordinator regarding my requests and will have answers by the end of the week.
So, I will hold him to it and patiently wait for the end of the week. I don't know if I am being too patient...

I did think of that since this is unnecessary added stress. I reached out to some venues as a back up but I am afraid I'm too close to the date.
His recent response was better. So I'll wait for the end of the week to see if he follows through as he said since he just recently hired an event coordinator.
