(*UPDATE* Page 5) DRESS IS IN! But :'-( ...bad news, way too tight (PICS)

Mrs. G, on May 8, 2014 at 1:05 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 93

So I posted here yesterday my dress came in and I was so excited to go see it! Well, I tried it on and it zips up, but that is it! I can't move....I can't breathe....I can't sit. As a shuffle around, the dress shifts up and bunches around my waist. They said they can take out an inch at most, but the owner said I needed to lose weight :'-(. I'm so bummed right now. The last thing I thought I'd have to worry about was fitting in my dress. I haven't ever had a weight problem and have always hovered around the same weight. I hope I can lose enough to be able to be comfortable and dance on the wedding day! I'll need to lose about 10 pounds, and the last time I weighed that much was sophomore year of high school when I played tennis for 2-3 hours a day! BTW...my face is blurred because I have a lot of friends who are getting married and if they peruse this site, I want to be anonymous! Otherwise I'd show the whole pic ;-)

You look great! I honestly don't even see where 10 pounds will come from???

You have lots of time to lose whatever you need to though to be able to comfortably fit into your dress. If you wouldn't have said it's too tight, I would have never known. It's beautiful on you in the photo.

The dress looks amazing on you!! I cant tell at all its so small... but dont stress to much about it. Stress is an evil thing. Just drink lots of water and clean up whatever you can from your diet. Ive gained a few pounds and my first fittinf is next month. Im also trying not to stress!

Will they exchange it for a bigger size? I bought my dress and they ordered a size 10 - I was JUST ABOVE an 8 and knew I would lose the weight. The manager said since my dress really can't be taken out they were going to order the 10 but when it came in and I needed the 8, they would exchange it for free. It's worth asking the question if you haven't already...

You look awesome, by the way.

Thank you Mrs_M....I really appreciate your kind words! These were definitely more flattering pics than the fit lets on! I am worried about being able to lose that much weight also! I wish more than anything they had ordered a bigger size so I wouldn't be in this position :-(. If I stood still all night and took baby breaths I could make it work with the seams let out, but if I want to enjoy myself and dance and move, I'm gunna need to lose those LBS!!!!

Are you sure they won't exchange it? It sounds like they're the ones that made the mistake- if they used your measurements the dress should fit! You look great, and you are very thin so I'm not sure if losing ten pounds in the next three months would be super healthy lol?

Would you happen to have asked if they could order the next size up?

Where can you afford to drop 10lbs? That just seems crazy to me! You look wonderful in your dress Smiley smile I can't even believe someone had the audacity to tell you to lose weight.

Thank you everyone :-) And Ashley, I signed the contract agreeing to the size they ordered with the measurements that were taken. Plus, it was prehemmed so there's nothing I can do. The people at the shop acted really strange yesterday....they knew it was too small and were timid. I think they were scared I was going to cause an issue or something. I was really nice to them though. I sure hope it all works out!!

I really don't think you should lose 10 lbs. Please don't do that to yourself! Let it out as much as they can and see where that puts you.

Can they exchange it? Are you sure they didn't order it in a size too small? Honestly, it looks great on you, but you have to be able to breathe in it!

ETA: I just read your response and I agree with OregonEmily. Have it let out and don't lose any weight. You look gorgeous already!

I know what your going through right now...it sucks! Mine isn't fitting like I want it to. I'm trying to loose the weight but it's not going so well. I don't want to be sick and spend my entire wedding in the bathroom..so I guess my figure is going to be what it is.

I agree, I think it looks great, but if it's that uncomfortable, I can see why you'd want to do something about it. I think them doing some alterations will be the best option, because you honestly don't look like you need to lose any weight.

I also think it looks really good on you, but you definitely need to be able to breathe! Would you be interested in maybe putting in a corset back? I had one because I really loved them. Throughout the evening, my best friend would loosen it if I felt too restricted, or tighten it if I felt like I was going to "fall out" of it.

It sounds like the store made a mistake and should have ordered one size up if it is uncomfortable for you. However, I have a similar dress than you and when it came in, it was snug around my thighs. Everybody said they couldn't tell it was snug but I could feel it. They also said they can let it out a little but I am trying to loose a little bit around my thighs, and my wedding dress is a size 4! So, I understand where you're coming from.

FutureMrsDelpra....I was pretty offended she had the nerve to say that too! I've had body insecurities in the past and I'm in a healthy state of mind now, but obviously no one likes to hear that! I plan to eat clean (protein and veggies for the most part for the next 100 days!!) and ramp up the exercise! I had my "last meal" last night lol....creamy pasta and garlic bread! So good....the memory will have to hold me until the honeymoon where I plan to chow down and not give 2 craps what I look like in my bathing suit ;-)

I'm with the others - where would you drop 10 lbs? Maybe they measured you incorrectly? I've never heard of any boutique telling a bride "lose weight". Really? That's incredibly unprofessional. Did they order your size based on the largest measurement? If not, they are definitely at fault. It's not like you went in there and made them order a smaller size. I hope they make it right! You deserve to be able to move on your wedding day!

Your gown is beautiful and it looks great on you. If you haven't gained any weight since the purchase, shouldn't the bridal shop be responsible for ordering the wrong size?

    Ps.

    Breathing is over rated, lol

You look awesome! That does suck that its isn't comfortable tho. I would say have it taken out as much as they are willing to take out and go from there. it looks like it fits you really nicely, but I guess that doesn't matter too much if you can't function. Good Luck!
