Updating invites with covid date change

Updating invites with covid date change 1
We were originally supposed to be married 8/9/20, but due to COVID we pushed it back to 8/8/21. I don’t want to pay for a whole new set of invitations so trying to figure out how to update the date without it looking too sloppy. The photo shows what it looks like if I just write over it. Looks...ok. The only other thing I can think of is to try and print stickers to go over it, but the paper is ivory so the normal white label stickers obviously won’t match (plus that’s more work to print, cut, stick, etc). Thoughts? I have around 100 of these to do :p

Would you go the funny route of crossing it out with a red pen and writing the new date in?

I also think that people wouldn't really care if you had a sticker that didn't quite match. Or you could order stickers from a small business and send them a picture of your invite so then can get the colour close?

If I were a guest and I received this, I would probably contact you to confirm the date, because it kinda looks like a typo. I understand not wanting to purchase a full new set of invites, but I would definitely reach out to the company you bought them from and explain your situation. They might give you a deal since you don't need envelopes and it was covid related. But if that's not an option, I would opt for a sticker or label rather than writing over the original date.

I'm not sure where you ordered from, but I reached out to Minted for ours and they offered to reprint our Save the Dates for free. We opted to just email our guests the new date and will instead be using the large discount they offered towards the invites. It may be worth reaching out to the vendor to see if they're willing to help since this was pushed due to Covid.

My thoughts are… No. The handwritten update doesn’t look good. It actually looks a little confusing/messy. Unfortunately, part of postponing involves spending additional money on things like this. Luckily we hadn’t purchased our invitations yet. But I did have to buy new save the dates.

Honestly us original 2020 Covid brides don’t have a rules ... we make our own. I say do what ever suits your budget .. and if people don’t like it, then that’s to bad ... it’s not their wedding that was wrecked. I make my own rules and all “normal” wedding etiquette is out my window. Let’s be honest. No one saves our invites or even save the dates? They all get thrown out anyways

I would go with a sticker. If I got this invitation, I would probably reach out to you to make sure the date was correct as a previous poster mentioned. I’d also make sure that it was also on a Sunday just to make sure. A sticker would be best.

My vote is to either make light of it by very obviously crossing out the old date, writing "Take Two!" or "Re-do!" or something, and of course noting the new date......or to do stickers or re-print the invites. It depends on what suits you and the budget the best!

I made our invitations myself, and the "date" spot said "feb 28 2021" so I used white out over the date and just redid them. The white out was the same color as the paper, and i matched my pen with the print.

Our invitation vendor will do updates for free if we need to change our date. Even so, I would totally own it and use red pen.

I agree with the PP that it's not about "rules" or "etiquette", but about clear information. It's really important that your guests know the right date to show up! So if it's not 100% clear, then another editing method would be better.

You can always make your own labels with the same color paper and double sided tape. A little more labor intensive, but it would match. (I purchased save the dates early last year and did not sent them because COVID hit so I repurposed them into virtual invites using a label I created on paper to match the save the date).
