Updating Registry Date

Lauren, on September 21, 2020 at 3:24 PM Posted in Registry 0 4

For the people out there who got married on their original date and are having the full reception at a later date, how did you handle updating your registry? Did you just update the date on your registries once your wedding date passed, or did you create a new one with the reception date? I'm leaning towards creating a new one, but I'm worried it might get confusing if people search for the old one with my maiden name by accident.

Thanks!

I updated the date on the registry as soon as we communicated the postponement!

I would just update the date. I wouldn’t understand creating a whole new registry. You can always update and change the items on your registry at any time , so if you thought of new items you wanted to add you could or if you wanted to remove something because your tastes changed, that’s fine too, all on the original registry.

I just updated the dates on the registry, but we also didn't have very much purchased from them, so it wasn't a huge deal. You can still update for new items/remove old items if you want, I don't think there is a huge need to make a separate one. That might confuse guests when they go to find your registry for next year.

We changed the date on the registry the day before we got married. I know people will buy things for us next year, so I didn't want to let ours expire. Registries stay active for a few months to a year after the wedding, so I knew that if we made a new one, they'd both be active at the same time and that seemed unnecessarily confusing. At some point I'll probably add a note acknowledging the situation.
