Updo vs. half up/down

FutureMrsB, on October 12, 2018 at 2:36 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 12
I have my hair and makeup trial coming up soon and I cannot decide how to have my hair done. Initially, I wanted my hair half up half down. But the more I think about it, I don’t want to be hot (which happens easily) or have to worry about messing with it.

Anyone do their hair a certain way and wish they’d done it differently? Are there pros or cons to doing it either way? Of course it’s up to what I like but just needing a little guidance! 😊

I also had the same debate. But I ended up deciding on the updo. A low updo, but an updo no matter how you look at it! I realized that I hate when the back of my neck is warm, I also thought about "if the curl in my hair starts to fall (which my hair tends to do) what are the odds that one side will fall a little more than the other?" So instead of worry about it, I just said screw it, it's going up! I have some orchid pins that I'm putting in it, and I'm going to have more hair product than I ever thought possible, but I'm sure I'll be happy with my choice!

I am getting an updo because I plan on dancing the night away and it makes me sweat just a bit. I also like how my hair looks up so it depends on your face shape and what you feel comfortable in. I don't want to have to worry about my hair so having it up in a classy bun means one less thing to worry about

I think updo’s are lower maintenance. If I had hair down l would constantly mess with it. (That’s just how I am). You can always do your hair in a flirty curly half up kind of do on any given day, but how many times in your life are you really going to have a polished updo? It’s not how I usually do my hair, so that’s why I am intending on doing an updo.

Hi FutureMrsB! I think a great way to help you decide is by thinking about your dress! Does it have a lot of detail on the back that your hair would block? Also, are you planning to wear a veil or any specific earring? I think that an up-do looks amazing with dangly earrings and veils! Also, what type of updo did you have in mind?

I had the same debate, I always thought I’d want it half up/half down but now I’m leaning more towards all up. I tend to play with my hair a lot subconsciously so I’m sure I’ll end up doing that if it’s down which I don’t want to do! Having it up is also lower maintenance, don’t have to worry about it getting in the way. I feel like an updo looks more formal too. Lastly, I’ll be wearing gorgeous family-heirloom diamond dangly earrings, so having my hair up will let those show more! Those are my reasons Smiley smile

I am doing half up half down....but I am not worried about getting too hot or it getting in the way. It will be January - so not too hot lol - and as far as it getting in the way.....not really. I have very long hair and FH specifically asked for it to be down. So this was our compromise.

I had the same debate but in the end went with half up / half down and I was so happy I did. I danced all night long and it never bothered me & I was seriously too pre-occupied to notice if it did. Do whatever makes you feel prettier, have your stylist try both!

When I get nervous I get hot and I know I’ll probably be dancing too so the chances of sweating are high! I have a round face so I dont know how I would look with a classy bun. Maybe a messy one!

I’ll definitely be doing an up do.

For me, having my hair down was never even an option.

Definitely going all up. I like the look of half up half down, but my hair doesnt hold curl all the well and I melt when it's even a little warm.

    Hello FutureMrsB!

I personally have always been an up-do person because I'm always so sweaty! Also, my hair is pin straight so whenever I get it curled, it falls out!

I think you have to consider your preferences and the type of hair you have! If you kept your hair down, what type of style would you do? Would you consider styling it off to the side to keep it off your neck?
