Uplight colors for navy blue and gold wedding?

FutureMrsD, on April 9, 2015 at 9:33 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

My wedding colors are navy blue and gold, and all along I've been planning to have navy table linens, ivory chair covers, and gold place settings and votives. However, now it's time to pick the uplighting color! I've always been drawn to blue uplights...but would this be too much blue with navy linens? Would it be better to stick to white table linens instead? I wanted to stay away from white linens since that's what 95% of weddings seem to use but I don't want anything to clash, either. The other option would be purple uplighting but I'm not sure the fiance would go for that. My wedding is in June so I don't want it to come across as wintry, either (although when everyone comes inside after sweating in 85 degree weather, I'm not sure that's really a concern). Thoughts? Here are some examples of what I was thinking below:

I think the bottom picture would be great!

We are doing uplighting as well. our colors are royal blue and orange.. But our centerpieces are primarily blue and the bridesmaids will be in blue, and our cake will have a blue ribbon on it..

So our company suggested we use orange as the main lighting and then do pops of blue by the head table, cake table, gift table as like accent pieces?

Maybe you could do primarily blue lighting and then to pops of yellow, or a soft white or something?

I'm thinking kind of along the lines of Stephanie...maybe yellowish/white up lighting if your linens are navy? I feel like that first room is so dark. Dark doesn't bother me too much but I can hear my mom complaining. Your older guests might have trouble seeing. However, if you want the dark uplighting and have the opportunity to change to whiter linens at no cost, I think that route could work as well.

I think that blue table cloths with blue uplighting would be too much yes. I think if you want the blue uplighting, you should consider the gold table cloths, possibly with a navy blue overlay. Our colors were emerald, pink, and gold. We had pink uplighting (I didn't think green would look so hot), emerald table cloths, and then emerald table cloths with this sheer patterened gold overlay for the other half. The combination was stunning.

White uplights. I'm not a fan of super dark uplighting-- pastels are okay, but I think the blue would be too much.

Janeen, I am in LOVE with your tables. They are some of the most gorgeous tables I've ever seen.

I say blue uplights. Ivory table cloths with gold overlays on half of them. That's what I'm doing but with pink uplights.

@Janeen love your set up just beautiful!

I am also doing uplighting and the venue suggested to go with ivory table clothes and accent with color and the uplighting. So I was thinking ivory table cloth and overlay (venue supplies) a teal satin table runner and gold chargers

Thank you! Weirdly enough, this was the part of the wedding that I was the least interested in and I think it was one of the better put together parts.

    Janeen, that is ridiculously pretty.

FutureMrsD... too much blue. My colors are navy, gray, and hot pink, and I'm planning on using amber uplighting like Wendy C posted. Although Janeen's pink looks good too, LOL.

Hello I'm having a uplighting dilemma also my wedding colors are maroon, gold and navy blue...table cloth is maroon with a gold overlay. The only blue that will really be incorporated is the mens tuxes..I'm not sure if I should do blue or yellow uplighting?
