uplighting Colors?

Candache, on March 28, 2018 at 2:46 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19

similar colors

Hi everyone! I'll be getting married in New Orleans in October and were having a small wedding (60 people). The space is beautiful (see photos - flooring has been updated and is now a dark wood tile), but we want to add a touch of romance and thought we could do that with uplighting. Our colors are Cabernet (dark maroon), navy, sage with gold accents (see couldn't find exact scheme), so Id like to stay in that realm. I was thinking amber lighting but im not sure...anyone have experience or maybe just a better design eye than I?

I honestly don't think this venue needs uplighting, it's gorgeous on its own. If you want uplighting then I would definitely go for a more amber/warm white huge. Kind of like darker amber christmas light colors or something.

What about just white uplighting? Personally I am not a big fan of colored uplifting so we chose to do white with our color scheme of white gold and blush. We have a lot of gold accents in our reception room and we’re told that the white uplighting makes it glow beautifully at nighttime!

I prefer amber uplighting, it's not as harsh as white IMO but still doesn't take away from the venue itself.

We had "candlelight" uplighting they called it for the ceremony, and then a pinkish/purple for the reception to make it have a different vibe. I think amber (similar to the candlelight we used) would look great.

I don't think uplighting adds a touch of romance. I think it makes a venue look more like a club.

Your venue is beautiful!! We are doing amber lighting to accent the candlelight. We don't really have colors but were going more for ambiance.

I thought this too after going to a wedding that used it literally every 10 feet throughout the entire venue 😳 it was very harsh, lol. We are only using about 8 total throughout our venue though.

Agree with this and the previous comment. I personally don't think your venue will need it. However my colors are similar to yours minus the gold and I'm thinking about just doing white uplighting to keep the lighting indirect and more ambient.... It adds a glow to the room without being clashing with any of your colors. But it seems the candelabras do this on their own.

I agree with this. We want a vibe like you’re going for, and are choosing to forgo uplighting. I’ve seen it in our venue and it doesn’t give the look I’m going for.

But I agree with PP that white uplighting looks the best if you definitely want it. It looks the most...natural. They can soften it so it isn’t so harsh.

Our florist made a point to tell me amber uplighting makes everyone looks like oompah loompahs...so take that as you will lol

We did amber and pink. I was really concerned that other colors would make people's faces look bad. And either of those would go with your color scheme.

Go with warm white uplighting, lighting is the easiest way to really dress up a venue.

I don't think you need lighting. The color of the venue and your colors are just gorgeous. If you want to do something special with lighting, have your names in lights!

Your colors are venue are gorgeous! I don't think you need uplights but they can be a mood-enhancer, or transform a space. An amber/gold would be subtle and beautiful for you. We used orange (see before/after pics--the warm glow feels so neat in person).

Some vendors offer a mix of blends or custom options. You may want to test a few gold shades to see which you like best in the venue when you're setting up.
