I have 2 girls who are ushers. My question here is I am going to purchase the BMs robes for the day of the wedding- should I also get them robes to wear as well while getting ready? They were happy to be the ushers but I just want them to be totally included because I love them so just need a little...

Lynnie and Jo clearly said that if the OP brings something up, we can comment on it. So we're playing by the rules :-)

Do you understand that Black Tie isn't just addressing attire????

Black Tie is a standard of service not how people are dressed. Please, reading comprehension is your friend.

If you want to include everyone that is close to you, then include them. Don't tier your nearest and dearest.

Paying for things does not equal love when it comes to friends. Just because you bought their gowns doesn't make it right.

"I love you, but not as much as this person. Please stand over there while these people stand over here."

I'm failing to see how paying for stuff is relevant. You asked two women to be in your BP lite.

FIne have them be ushers. but do NOT MAKE THEM purchase a dress. I can guarantee they are not that excited as you think.

Black tie is not an optional thing.

Actually yes, "Black Tie Attire" is how it is on my invitation, I am not re-inventing the cycle here. This has happened before.

I never said I was purchasing a $5 robe, however if the quality is there why not buy the $5 robe as a sample as @Samantha stated. Instead of buying the $40 robe?

BLACK TIE IS NOT A DRESS CODE.

Okay, it's rude to tell people how to dress (full stop). If you are having a black tie event (see above for what it entails) you may put Black Tie on the invitation. Otherwise, you are going to have a bunch of pissed off people who show up for what they think is a Black Tie Event, and they get a bloody DJ.

By all means I am not making them purchase a dress, these 2 women have made that choice.... Not me. I am not sure what playing by the rules means??? I am not saying that buying things means anything it was just a statement. I am going to go with buying them the robes - thanks for all your input!

$5 robes are going to be like scratchy ass paper towels from a bathroom dispenser at 7/11.

FFS, @Samantha. Are you sure that your friends are adults? Because the way that you are treating them screams, "I know you don't know how to navigate the world".

Black Tie Attire: A tuxedo or a formal dark suit and tie. She should wear: A long dress, a dressy suit, or a formal cocktail-length dress in a dark, neutral tone like brown, gray, or black.
