I have 2 girls who are ushers. My question here is I am going to purchase the BMs robes for the day of the wedding- should I also get them robes to wear as well while getting ready? They were happy to be the ushers but I just want them to be totally included because I love them so just need a little...

Other Samantha, OP has been around here longer than you have. She knows how this goes. She gets upset with us every time. No REGERTS! (not even one letter.).

ETA she still thinks Black Tie only applies to attire!!!! bahahaha!

    The invite says: "Black Tie"

This is the next most formal wedding dress code and usually means the wedding is an evening affair.

    He should wear:

A tuxedo. A black bow tie, cummerbund, and patent leather shoes are also suggested.

    She should wear:

A chic cocktail dress or a long evening gown in a dark, neutral color like brown or black. The bride, wedding party, or friends can help answer questions about the appropriate dress length.

How freaking huge is this invitation? There's like an essay's worth of information on it. Is the registry info there as well?

ETA: Am I the only one who does not think BLACK when they think of neutral nails?

Adults love it when you tell them how to dress.

It is an easy google. Hi @MRs Sasswood, I am not getting upset at all. I appreciate all the input but how I address my invites are my choice and if I want to have a "black tie" wedding, I will have a black tie wedding. Like I said I am not the first person to do this, I have researched plenty of times.

Just thought I'd give her a chance, but I'm thinking it'll be a wasted opportunity.

Ok, no that is not on my invitation. My invitation says "Black-Tie Attire" it does not say "required" it is optional. Like I said, not everyone will come dressed accordingly that also does not mean they cannot attend my wedding. It is an option for them. That is all.

If you want to have a black tie wedding, please do! But have a Black Tie wedding. Not what you think is a Black Tie wedding. Dressing the part is not the only component. So obviously your research has failed you.

To answer your question, tell your friends this:

"I love you but not enough to actually stand up there with me so I'm going to make up another role for you that is completely inconsequential because my pictures must be pretty, and that is more important than our friendship. Further more, to totally include you, here is a piece of $5 polyester."

The only way I see doing this.

Hahahah. It'd be a "black tie" affair with a ton of fancy raccoons running around.

Please put yourself in your "friend's" shoes. This is really rude, OP.

I'd be so pissed if I had to buy/rent a formal gold gown, wasn't good enough to be a bridesmaid, and I got a $5 robe in return.

You have SIX flower girls?! Like a literal herd of flower girls. You realize not every guest has to be IN the wedding right?

You guys and gals are not getting it, my venue and all that is included is BLACK TIE. However, the meaning behind black tie originated in France and it is a dress code mostly - yes I can understand going to a wedding dress as "black tie" and walking into a buffet would be horrific. If i were that bride I would be embarrassed. That is not the case here. No buffet. 5 course sit down dinner.
