Using Cricut to write escort cards - need help!

MrsVoegs17, on September 26, 2017 at 12:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

Has anyone used their Cricut to write on pre-cut escort cards? I made a template of my cards so I knew where on the mat my text needed to go, but when I delete the square shapes, even after attaching all of the text, it always pushes all of my text up into a straight line at the top of the mat. How do I keep my text where it needs to be so that it writes on my cards properly? If I don't figure this out today... I will have to write 175 place cards by hand!

So frustrated with my Cricut lately, even though I realize it's probably the operator, not the machine!

So remove the blade... will the machine still go through the cutting motion?

@H, My problem is my escort cards have the background printed and are already cut down to size. I figured if I could just load several on the mat at a time and write them with the Cricut it would be easier than writing by hand!

If it's pushing your text up, I would keep the square and attach everything together, that way it stays put where it needs to be. Once you are in the preview screen you can select edit and move the text around the mat to make sure it prints where it's suppose to.

@Kori - That is the most simple and amazing idea, I was doing this with a template I built for addressing envelopes and I couldn't figure out what to do. Going to try that tonight, thanks!

I always did the text and the shape for placement as separate layers. Like text is layer 1 and square is 2, then only "cut" layer 1
