Using Feathers in Centerpiece?

Morgan, on March 16, 2018 at 8:37 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Has anyone used feathers in a centerpiece? I'm wondering if it could be a cheaper alternative to flowers, or if I could use the feathers to supplement the floral arrangement and make it look more full.

If you haven't used flowers, what do you think of them? Are they too gaudy?

Personally I don’t like feathers mixed with flowers or feather centerpieces. I don’t think it looks good at all

I feel like feathers + flowers looks really nice in pictures, but if the rest of your decor is really subdued and low key it looks out of place. For example, the tall centerpiece in pic #1 is stunning with the uplighting and the crystals, chiavari chairs, flowers on the table, and the damask-y tablecloth, but if it were by itself it would look strange IMO.

Feathers are a really nice alternative if you or any of your VIPs are allergic to flowers.

Are you having other Art Deco elements? Will the feathers go with your decor?
I started out with an Art Deco theme but the feathers were just as expensive if not more than flowers/greens.

It really depends on the look you're going for, I feel like it goes with a very 1920's art deco theme. Personally, I'm not a fan, but that's me. If you like it, rock it! Smiley sexy

    Ostrich feathers are not inexpensive.

I made the first one! I used a glass vase, but I eventually found that between the vases and large feathers it was too expensive. So I ended up with small bowls from the dollar tree and cheaper feathers. I recommend using a feather boa around Styrofoam or whatever the ball is underneath to add volume.the So the first picture is the centerpieces we're using on all the guest tables, and the second one is the one we'll have on our sweetheart table Smiley smile All our decor has feathers to some degree!

It's definitely beautiful but my sister in law did this and she ended up spending so much on vases and feathers that she had to make different arrangements on every other table because it would have costs too much for every table, I really like how they look with flowers and feathers. And ashley yours look beautiful!

I think it really depends on the venue and the look you're going for. I like the second photo more than the first. It is beautiful.
