Using heavy detergent bottles as hand weights

Megan , on May 2, 2017 at 2:11 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 36

Who else does this? I do it to help build muscle. Yeah I get strange looks in the store but oh well. Doing it for my future health and wellbeing.

Wait you do it in the store? Lol I do not have the guts for that!

But I do use gallon jugs of water for weights sometimes though

I mean- do you just pick them up and walk around with them then set them down?

    I'm confused.

Being said- I 100% curl my grocery bags on the way to the car.

    sometimes curl and press.

    In the store? WTF?

Like, you just go into Walmart and grab a couple of bottles of Tide, and stand there and do 3 sets of 15?

@Jo glad I am not the only one who curls groceries. I'm also the person who refuses to take more than one trip so my arms are FULL!

Two big bottles of wine has the same effect.

Except I drink the bottles afterwards.

You can effectively hammer curl wine bottles and if your get the gals of wine and do it then it weighs as much as your purse.

Listen- I have a youtube channel called she squats everywhere- so #teamfitnessneverwhere

but I don't go to the store to work out.

KDoubleU- nope- no 2nd trips. I only use a hand basket to shop- so I tend to keep the volume of stuff pretty low- but it gets my my bicep work that I never do in the actual gym. Because I don't care about those things.

You need to do it more often to build muscle, unfortunately.

    I wouldn't consider that a workout.

That's not even going to get you a good pump.

I applaud your effort- but you should put that effort in when you get home- you'll get more out of it than 2 reps at the store.

Or ditch the cart and carry them around while you shop- that'll do more for you.

While you're shopping, you're not also buying shitty food, are you? Cause then it's kinda pointless to lift the Tide bottles.

I've never thought about this. Of course I would buy them and take them home first.

I've never used them for weight lifting but since we're sharing life hacks.. when I was in college I would pour detergent from one container into another and then buy the one that was filled to the brim. Maybe you could try that to maximize your work outs.
