Using one space for both the ceremony and reception ideas.

shauna, on March 31, 2015 at 8:51 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

Hello,

I'm getting married in September, and we have selected a ballroom for the venue. We need help on ideas of how to transform the room with decorations and also how to use the space for both the ceremony and reception. There is limited space for the guest to intervene and have a cocktail hour. I have considered having guests sit down at the tables, but I'm not sure.

Look into uplighting. You may want to set the tables up with an aisle down the middle and then get married on the dance floor. The people just sit at the tables for the ceremony and then the reception unless you have a space for everyone to go for a cocktail our and the venue staff reset the room.

Both our ceremony and reception are in the same place. The ballroom has salon dividers so they are going to have the tables set up and then closed off and the very front of the ballroom will have the seats and an aisle. The guests will then move out to the bar located at the hotel for cocktail hour while the hotel staff is opening up the room and moving the chairs.

I absolutely love it because I'm not 100% sold on sitting at your dinner seat for the ceremony. I know if I was at a wedding I would be less likely to pay attention.

I am having a ballroom wedding and have the same issue. I am setting the room up how it will be for the reception but a defined center aisle. Once the ceremony is over, we will take away the center aisle and spread the tables out a tad more. I am not completely sold on this idea, but I would rather do that, then spend an hour re-setting the room. I want the ballroom to have that WOW factor when the guests first arrive. We are also having a very short ceremony so I don't think the guests sitting in one spot will be an issue. We have a few other rooms for them to mingle in but not enough room to have a "cocktail hour" outside of the ballroom.

I also have both in one place. I'm having the guests sit at the tables for the ceremony. To save on space, the bridal party will be sitting with their families or mutual friends. I am going back and forth on a sweetheart table which can be placed where the ceremony takes place or sitting with our parents.

I am having ceremony and reception in the same room. We are taking all posed pictures before the wedding ceremony. We are doing a first look and walking in together. Our guest tables are round and will be set up in a half circle formation with our sweetheart table in the middle. The sweetheart table will hold our goblet and vessels for our water ceremony. When the ceremony is over we will move right into the reception. No room flip, no cocktail hour, more time to mingle and dance. I save money on not having a cocktail hour and I don't have to worry about aisle decoration. I was going to have aisle decorations and I was like why??? The half circle formation with guest tables lets everyone see the ceremony and afterwards we will be sitting in the middle of our guest. My venue has a garden area that we are putting lawn games up for the teenagers but all are invited to go out there if they want and the dance floor with DJ will be at the other end of my venue. My venue is a 3,086 square foot ball room. Good Luck and Happy Planning.
