That sounds great... I already have a music folder for my wedding on my phone with the songs in order from what I'm walking down to what we are walking into

I went to a wedding last year, where the groom used a loud speaker or boom box with Bluetooth to play their songs. My wedding next year is going to be via speaker hooked to laptop so i dont see any reason why you could bring a speaker or play it through your phone. Less expensive then renting a band or dj

We have a stringed trio for our actual ceremony but we will be playing a playlist during the reception portion. Not many dancers in our crowd.

There are a couple important things to keep in mind: 1. Make sure music is downloaded so it will be available offline in case there’s any service issues.
And 2, I would keep the phone in Airplane Mode so it doesn’t have cell service— otherwise, every time you get a text, the notification will come through the speakers !

We did this for our eparty. Just male sure the phone is on do not disturb mode, music is still available offline (you can do this with pandora premium), and songs are already in the order you want them played.

It’s fine, but just know that if you’re trying to save money by not hiring a DJ, a DJ does a lot more than just play songs. Forgoing a DJ is a good way to save money if you’re having an earlier wedding or you know your crowd aren’t really dancers.

That's exactly what we did, put a playlist on our phone and used the venue's speakers!

We were going to do this but changed our mind and will hire a DJ. After speaking with the one we chose we realized we want an actual party and a DJ will help give us that.

We were considering doing this since we are having a simple brunch wedding on a Sunday. I'm not the most tech savvy person unfortunately. The deciding factor for me was the amount of stress it would give me if something went wrong. We are hiring a dj for $400 for 3 hrs which seemed like a great bargain to me! I found this article helpful.

That's what we're doing. Make sure the music is downloaded onto your phone, so you don't have to worry about data/wifi. Also, I would bring some extra batteries for your speaker (if it uses them) or a portable charging battery to plug it in to. I think it's a great option (and SO much less expensive than hiring a DJ).
