In Australia we've been in lockdown for the past 3 months (they're announcing today that it'll lift on 18 October after 4 months of lockdown) and the government is only opening things back up to people who are fully vaccinated, so legally, our guests must be vaccinated to attend our wedding.

We included the following in our details card:

    COVID-19

In line with government mandates, all guests are required to be fully immunised against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Me and my Husband asked the same thing. To my surprise(A good surprise) my husband said that everyone should be vaccinated before the wedding. I said we should say "For everyone's safety, we highly recommend people to be fully vaccinated. We understand some people cannot or do not feel comfortable getting the vaccine, therefore if you are not vaccinated we would like for people to take a COVID test three days before your travel and follow the CDC recommend guidelines and to wear a mask." Something like that. Because I don't want to stir the pot that bad.
Historically, I get why people, especially people of color, are hesitant of the vaccine. I just don't tolerate conspiracy theories and people saying "But my freedom" and somehow making it religious or political.

It certainly hasn't been easy (we are literally only allowed to leave the house to exercise, buy groceries and other essentials etc and that has to be within 5km/3miles of us) but we are only now properly getting vaccinated so it was a bit of a must have ahead of everyone getting vaccinated. Fun times!

But whats the point? Vaccinated individuals can still transmit the virus similar to an unvaccinated individual.

Put the information everywhere you can. I had covid testing and vaccination requirement information on my wedding website, wedding safety email and on my enclosure cards with the invitations. Lastly, I used wedtext to send info the week of the wedding as a final reminder. It’s best to have information this important in as many places as you can since not everyone goes on the website or reads enclosure cads or emails etc. this way you’ll know they’ll receive the information and you covered your bases.

Obviously, but we are trying to keep everyone healthy which means if everyone is vaccinated there is less of a Chance of someone getting sick.

I saw these on a wedding website recently and seemed like a good way to word it! Also have seen where people will put something like “Yes, and I’m fully vaccinated” as the RSVP option. Vaccinations 1
    Vaccinations 2

Have you seen the difference in hospitalization and death rates between vaccinated and unvaccinated people? That's the point.

I went to an engagement party and in the invitation they requested guests be vaccinated and/or have multiple COVID tests leading up to and 48 hours prior to the event. They also had guests masked if they were not seated and eating or drinking. I know people will be upset about this, but it is not about them. You want to keep yourselves and loved ones safe and healthy and this is your request- it's a respect thing and they can respectfully decline.

But how does that affect you? It would be like saying if you have had an abortion, then you are not allowed at the wedding simply because the bride and groom are pro life. What about the people who have had COVID before and have immunity that way? I’m just more of the opinion that you can offer precautions (masks, sanitizer, social distance), but ultimately allow your guests to make the decision on what level of risk they would like to take themselves.

I like this balance. If you are going to require a particular vaccination status at your wedding, at least offer the alternative for your guests to get a COVID test instead in case they can’t or don’t want to get vaccinated for a specific reason.

It’s not about what they want. We are not catering to unvaccinated people. I don’t want to have to worry about them spreading COVID.

I respect your decision. I’m am just genuinely curious if you would deny an individual who cannot get vaccinated for a medical or religious reason? I’m just of the opinion that being so one way or the other in mandating the COVID 19 vaccine is a bit of a harsh line to draw.

Well.. since I have an autoimmune disease and so do other people that I am inviting, yes. I would 100% turn away someone who will not get the vaccine because of “religious” reasons. None of my guests are ineligible to receive the vaccine due to medical reasons.
