Valentines day VS. Wedding Anniversary

Mrs.Watson, on February 9, 2012 at 1:30 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 10

So yesterday I asked FH what was he planning on getting me for Valentines Day and he told me "nothing." Then he said "youre not getting anything else ever again on valentines day because now our Anniversary will be on the 2-18" I wanted to smack him lol,but it was kind of funny the way that he said it.

Hahaha - i actually have the same issue (almost date-twin). AND my birthday will always be within a week of mother's day. hmmmm. he is lucky that i'm ok with that.

it is slightly offset by the fact that his birthday is near xmas. Smiley smile

Aww the anniversary is more improtant anyway. I like doing something a little low key for Vday anyway...

This Vday we've decided not to spend any $...but it's still gonna be a super special day..

Any excuse for a little romance...

I've never really been crazy about Valetine's Day because it is mainly just an excuse for flower, candy and card shops to mark up prices and make you feel guilty for not spending money on one particular day for someone you love. Your anniversary is special, it's your day to commemorate the day you say I Do, which is definitely more important.

V-Day we usually just give each other a stuffed animal. We have a good distance between holidays with us though.

Call me crazy but I just don’t do it (FH is thrilled with that one). To me, it’s always felt like it’s forced romance. We are kinda hyper-romantic anyway so I can’t see setting aside this one day. I consider an anniversary MUCH more important since it celebrates the beginning of the marriage. I like to think of it as having your own "Couples New Years" every year. Smiley smile

We do date nights on a regular basis, so Valentine's Day is not a big deal to us. I've told Fh that he doesn't have to get me anything for it. I'll splurge on a little something that I want for myself, we'll have dinner at home, and we'll say a couple extra "I love you"'s. And I'll buy cheap candy on the 15th Smiley smile

Valentines Day for us isn't special. I mean this year he is getting some skittles (he hates chocolate) and the new Tucker Max book. I'll probably get a box of chocolates. We both work that night so this Sunday we are going to have a nice semi-expensive meal in, we are broke college kids who always eat mac and cheese and ramen so pretty much any home cooked meal is rare in this house. And just have a date night in. pretty low key.

DH proposed on V-day so it will always be special to us Smiley smile

I don’t really get how it turned in to a gift giving holiday but I do love any excuse to go out for a nice meal or get a nice bottle of wine to share
