Veil material length

Jennie, on February 12, 2024 at 7:44 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 1
Hi all! I fell in love with the wide glitter veil I tried on with my dress (Stella York AVL0035, I now know after hours of searching because the shop was secretive) but it’s really expensive. I have found a wonderful place that sells what is a doppelgänger of the same tulle. If I want a single layer, cut edge cathedral veil (300cm) would buying the exact measurement be right? Or do I need extra? While cheaper it’s still a waste of material and a good bit of my money if I buy more than I need, but I also don’t want to be frugal and find out 300cm of material isn’t enough. Everywhere seems to have Cathedral length as 290/300cm and YouTube makes it seem like only 10cm is lost during the process of adding the comb. I’m no seamstress and reaching out to shops and tailors near me is proving slow if not impossible to get an answer.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi, while it can be seen as a waste of money and material, when buying material for any sort of diy project it is always best to purchase about 10% more than what you need. Then measure twice and cut once! Good luck!!
