Veil Question

OriginalKD, on November 30, 2015 at 5:44 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

Ok marrieds' this is why we need you. I have a cathedral length veil and am concerned that as I walk down the aisle it won't remain 'spread out' in the back and instead will gather and look like a piece of toliet paper got stuck in my hair. My dress and train is beaded, will that be sufficient to keep the veil in place? Any recommendations are appreciated.

FYI with long veils make sure they are really, I mean really, attached to your head. My friends veil basically fell out after she turned after being announced as husband and wife and was going to walk down the aisle. I was able to grab it and get it out so she didn't walk out of the wedding with her veil falling out.

How do you plan to wear your hair? I had mine down and the cathedral veil pinned on top, it didn't bunch or anything at all during the ceremony. I can try and find a pic if you are interested.

JCloves - good point. *sigh* one more thing to worry about.

Beth - I will have an updo. My veil does have a metal comb, so I should get a bit more of a grip. During my test runs with the veil, it drags and pulls away from the blusher. Just concerned it is going to look funny when I walk down the aisle

I bought my veil online and it came with these pins(they looks almost like sewing needles) and i just wove them through my hair and the veil. as far as far i could tell it didn't bunch and it stayed in place, until after the reception when someone stepped on it and yanked it off Smiley winking

Walk slowly? Have someone adjust your veil RIGHT BEFORE you start going down the aisle?

    I had a fascinator, so I didn't have this problem. Sorry. :-(

I had chapel length and had the same concern. But when it came down to it that was the last thing I was thinking about. The church coordinator fixed it all up for me before I walked down, but I have no clue if it stayed like that. The veil was definitely one annoying thing about the day...I couldn't wait to be done with it.

Yea, Princess Consuela, I felt the same way. I took mine out while we were in the limo on the way to the reception and I never put it back in. Hindsight, I wish I had some shots with it.

It's coming out as soon as we are done with the ceremony, which is why I really hope it stays in place.

If you pin the veil under your updo, that is the only time I can think it'd bunch. There are also 1/2 and 1 inch combs that you can add to the veil where and set it so that it will be a bit more fanned out. If it feels good on, like it won't slip, I'd focus on placement so that you don't have to worry about it looking like a long thin piece of tulle.

I had cathedral length and had someone can it out right before I walked. Unfortunately it started to bunch halfway up the aisle. It wasn't the end of the world though, it still looked good. It looked better going back up the aisle

Your hairdresser should attach it in a way that it stays spread. Mine gathered Smiley sad I had to pull it around my shoulders all the time for pictures - but my BMs put it on. A hairdresser would know how to do it.

I know this won't answer your question, but I guarantee that no one will notice if it does get a bit bunched up!

Hi I want to walk with my veil but the person that is making my dress said that I won’t stay. How do you make it stay?
