Veils! When did you lift the blusher on your veil?

Rosie, on September 8, 2021 at 9:22 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 2 20

So, obviously, this is going to be personal, but I'm still curious to see what other people have done.

Not everyone has a veil and those that do don't always have a blusher, but I read a recent comment that a wedding wire bride expected her fiance to lift it when she reached the end of the aisle, but he waited until the kiss, and she was dying inside the veil of heat!

Which got me to thinking. When would you (or did you) remove the blusher over your face?

When you first arrive at the end of the aisle? The kiss? Before the vows so he can see who he's committing to? (lol) At some other part of the ceremony I haven't thought of? Did you take it off yourself? Did your dad or the person who accompanied you down the aisle lift it? Your fiance?

SPEAK TO ME OF VEILS and how you organised things!

LOL! Yes it was! It was the only gif I could find of a veil being lifted!

We waited until the kiss. I was SWEATING (July Heat). I tried to signal to him to lift it when we met at the end of the aisle but he just held my hands and stared into my eyes. It was …. nice.

Most weddings I've been to, the father of the bride lifts it after he walks her down the aisle to kiss her cheek as he gives her away. Kind of an old-school "revealing his daughter to her new husband" type thing.

This was what happened to me. I didn't bother trying to signal him, but it was July... in Florida... I was Bride Sous Vide.

It did make for some pretty ceremony photos, though, my face behind the veil the entire time.

    Huh, the more you know!

I don't think I want to do this. It's a bit old school for me, but thank you for sharing - I wanted to hear what's traditional, what's not, etc!

LOL sous vide! You poor thing. And that's a good point about photos. They sound dreamy!

On the other hand, I guess you miss out on some level of ... emotion since you can't see the eyes as clearly, do you think? Or were the photos clear enough to capture all that anyway, veil or no?

In Judaism, the groom puts the veil on and takes it off - relating to the bibical story of Jacob marrying both Leah and Rachel because he got tricked into marrying the older daughter when he wanted to marry the younger daughter.

The groom puts on my veil after signing the Ketubah (jewish marriage contract) and will lift it before he stomps on the glass (which happens directly before the kiss).

Awww, that's super cute! And so romantic. I can't quite imagine him putting it on and taking it off...

I remember when my sister in law got married and they went across to the signing table to sign the register, my BIL just grabbed the long veil and scrunched it into a ball and put it under his arm, LOL. I told my fiance he's not to do that with mine.

Lol maybe i wasnt specific enough, he will pull down and lift the blusher, not the whole veil! I def would not trust him to put a veil on me and have it look right.

And i cant believe your BIL did that... thats too funny!

It was hilarious and very him, but I did cringe a little - it was her mother's, who has since passed away, so I was like nooooo be delicate with it! It's probably at least 30 years old!

Oh, my veil was very, very translucent. You could see everything.

I had a very particular type of veil called a drop veil, which is a single layer of tulle (no gathering), so it's very see-through, like so:

Veils! When did you lift the blusher on your veil? 1

Mine was pinned to my head with a single hat pin, so it looked like it was simply laid ("dropped") over my head. (Mine was also not this long - I had it set so that the front fell just above my elbows so that when I was holding my bouquet, it was out of the veil, but the back fell just below my hips.)

Yaaaass! This is the type of veil I want! I love it! it's so gorgeous. How did the pin work? Just stuck into your hair style? And no problem with it slipping?

Yeah, just gently pinned to the top of my head. I had the top of my hair pulled back out of my face in a sort of half-updo, and it just pinned into the hair at the crown of my head. I should note that I have very dense hair. No slipping, it held so well that it wasn't until I was dancing and it got wrapped around me that I was like, "oh, I need to take my veil off."

I can't speak for the heat, but I want mine lifted right before the kiss Smiley kiss I also haven't even been to a wedding in a long time where the bride actually wore a veil, and my sisters didn't have blushers on theirs, so I'm going into this on my own.

Right? This is the boat I'm in! Of the very, very few people who had veils, none had blushers! maybe we need to watch some classic romance movie weddings and see what they actually do for inspiration!
