Velvet Table Runners

Maggie, on April 3, 2018 at 9:03 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7

Does anyone have any idea on how to get this look for less? I am in LOVE with these table runners but they will add up to be a lot of money if I buy the number that I need.

Does anyone have any ideas that could be more cost effective but stil similar? (These are from Etsy)

Thanks!

Velvet is expensive. Do you have any fabric stores in your area? You could buy the amount you need and cut them yourself.

Could you use them on every other table? Or, if you are using long tables, every other row of tables? That would cut the cost in half.

The one in your pic is $54 for 12x192"

You can get velvet fabric from $7.50 per yard and up depending on the quality and the color.

If the fabric is 54" wide, you can cut 4 runners from the 54". To get a 192" runnner you would need to buy 5.5 yards. 5.5 yards x $7.50 would cost $41.25, but you get 4 runners for that= $10.30 each. Not so bad.

You could also use velvet curtain panels (Ikea has them) for fabric.

Another option is to look for something ( old theater curtains or draping anyone?) ) on Craigslist or in a thrift shop that is made of velvet and use the fabric.

I was going to suggest buying yourself and then cutting and hemming or seeing if anyone in your family/friends could? Also doing it on the head table only to make it stand out could be an option!

Did you check amazon or aliexpress for velvet runners? Or maybe buy velvet fabric in bulk and make it look like runners? Amazon and aliexpress online are very inexpensive or maybe some fabric local store?

Btw, side note, I recently saw velvet runners at a wedding showcase (pictures of purple runner on a table with beautiful decor) and also thought they were so pretty!!! It's a great idea and will look amazing. I hope you find something that won't be too expensive... Maybe look into renting also?
