Vendor Gift Ideas?

Kiwi Kawaii, on May 17, 2016 at 2:51 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

This is a weird question, but I think I would like to get a gift for our pseudo coordinator at our venue. She's not actually a hired coordinator, but she is our contact with the venue. I have badgered this poor girl (in a nice way of course) with questions via email since we booked the place. I know it's her job, but I feel I have been a little high maintenance Smiley sad

I was wondering if there is a good gift to get your vendors. I probably want to do this for all my vendors, as long as everything goes well. They have all been very kind to me. BUT I'm also not made of money, like most people. You think maybe some kind of edible arrangement is a good idea? Or would something else be better?

A lot of people do gift cards too. If you're doing favors at your wedding you could also throw in a favor for them.

This never crossed my mind. Our venue's contract also includes the coordinator. I think the edible arrangements is a good idea... Maybe I will get her a cute starbucks tumbler with a gift card?

This would not be an actual gift but if you were really happy working with her, go out of your way to leave phenomenal reviews about her. Go to yelp, weddingwire, thumbtack, anywhere you can to rave about her. This will make her look really good to her boss and company and could potentially give her job security, a raise, or more perceived value as an employee. Good people are hard to find and companies know that.

I'm planning on sending mine either some flowers or a nice bottle of wine and a thank you card after the wedding. She has been so amazing and wonderful to work with.

As a wedding coordinator for a venue, I can say that I'm thrilled when a couple takes the time to write a positive review. Occasionally, I will receive a thank you card and that is very special because I know that my couples have a million other things on their minds other than writing thank you notes to vendors. (two nice gifts I've received recently were a bottle of wine and a beautiful pair of earrings) FutureMrsWallace has the right idea for THIS coordinator. Smiley smile

    PCC -

I feel like Starbucks is always an easy one, even if the giftee doesn't like coffee there are tons of options there and LBH you can never have enough tumblers! lol

Have you learned anything about her and what she likes? My venue coordinator loves pottery barn, so I am getting him a gift card to there. Something personalized like that could be nice!

SoonToBeStoddie - I wish I knew more about her. I've only met her in person once, because we are planning from out of state. The only thing I know about her is that she is pretty much constantly busy. Otherwise, we tend to keep our emails to just question-answer since she usually doesn't have much time to respond.

She definitely seems like a wine or starbucks kind of girl to me. If I worked long hours like she does, I would need some serious coffee. If I tried to get wine I would likely fail epically, because that is completely out of my element (I don't drink, and when I did it was cheap crap haha).

ETA: ********@*********.***, Cassi and Max - I will definitely be leaving extensive review for all my vendors (should be easy, I only have a few). I completely understand the power of reviews, considering I almost always base my decisions on that. But I thought a gift or something might be nice, too!

We are giving our venue coordinator a cash tip. For someone who I would have felt awkward just giving cash, I would do a restaurant.com gift card, a spa gift card, starbucks giftcard, or wine. And if this person is a vendor absolutely leave a glowing review!

Starbucks is always a good idea!! What if you did a gift card to a local spa/nail salon, so she can take a break and relax from all her long hours worked?

We gave her a cash tip. I sent it to her in a thank you card rather than giving it the day of though.

SoonToBeStoddie - That's a sweet idea! I will have to see if Parkersburg, WV or Belpre, OH have a spa/salon lol. They are very...small towns. I'm sure Marietta, OH has one though, that's not super far.

I like Cassi's suggestion. Also, send her boss a letter that can be put in her personnel file. Send a copy to her, so she has it if she ever goes job hunting.

I would 100% send a letter to the company/her boss and rave about her performance along with a review online. That can do a lot in helping her career. Then maybe just send an arrangement or gift card somewhere with a note thanking her.
