Vendor Hair/makeup Concern?

Autumn, on November 3, 2021 at 11:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 2

Hi Everyone! I am a Sep 2022 bride and I am super excited about my upcoming wedding. I got engaged in May 2020 and we pushed our wedding date out due to COVID and our current work situations. Over the past year, I have been able to book the majority of our vendors without issues. Easy communication, very clear contracts, and expectations but I'm concerned with my hair/makeup artist. I'm not sure If I am being overly concerned since I have time until my date, but I just wanted opinions.

- We first requested her information in Feb 2021 and she was very responsive.
- We connected on and off about the details and decided to book early March 2021
- We deposited $50 and she said she would send an invoice/confirmation (we never received it). She said we would connect closer to the wedding date to set up a trial
- I reached out to make some changes to our initial requests in May 2021 and got no response. I followed up again on those requests in June 2021 and finally got things updated. That's the last I heard from her.

I asked for an email confirmation back in June and contract details once again and still have not recived them and it's November 2021. I pray we are actually down on her books, but we have no confirmation/contract and I feel this is very unprofessional. I don't mind finding another vendor because it is only $50 lost, but I also don't want to jump the gun. I have not had any other vendors operate this way and I'm not sure if it's something I should be concerned about.

Thanks for your help!

This is very unprofessional. She definitely should have sent a confirmation and contract with your date clearly on it. If you haven't signed a contract there's no guarantee that she will keep your date available for you. I would reach out to her one more time requesting a signed contract, which can be as formal or informal as she likes but needs to be signed but both of you. I would give her a deadline to reply by and if you don't hear from her by then you'll consider your agreement null and void and expect your deposit back.

Very unprofessional! I would expect the longest to be a week to respond. I personally feel like a week is pushing it, but I feel as if that is a good period considering how busy it is with weddings this year and next year.
If you want to test it to see if it is worth it, I would contact her for three days straight. If there is no response then I suggest finding a new hair and makeup person Smiley smile
