Vendor has gone Awol!

Sarah, on March 24, 2024 at 11:49 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

I hired a vendor several months ago (not naming the type of vendor) but they've gone AWOL - no response to texts, phone calls or emails. He has cashed our deposit check but does not respond to any form of communication. Our wedding is coming up in three months and it's getting worrisome. Ever had this happen before?

I've unfortunately had something similar happen with my original hair and makeup artist, though I was miraculously able to get my deposit back.

Have you tried reaching out to this vendor on social media? That might be just one more method to try to get in contact with him. Does this vendor have a shop or business location that you can visit to try to meet with him that way? Do you have a contract with this vendor? In any case, I would start looking for someone else that you can book as a replacement.

Thank you - just went to this vendor's Facebook and Instagram and both pages are active. Most recent posts have been within the last two days. I'm going to give him another 24 hours and then will move on. If no response I will send a letter from a friend who is a lawyer asking ever so politely for the deposit to be refunded. Hope that comes across in the manner it which it is meant - he needs to do his business in a respectful way! Meaning, respond to calls and emails!

Sorry to hear about your vendor ghosting you like that. It's definitely not cool when someone takes your money and disappears. I haven't personally had that happen, but I've heard horror stories. With your wedding coming up, that's gotta be stressful. Hopefully, you can sort this out soon and not let it ruin your big day.

Thank you! Still nothing and I am going to send another message to him this morning and if no response to that, my lawyer friend will be in touch....hoping that works. I am stunned that has happened.

Since you wrote a check & they've already cashed it, contact your bank & get your money back asap. It does take some time, but you'll get it & you should already be looking at another vendor.
