Vendor lack of communication (rant)

Allaura, on September 28, 2021 at 5:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
I’m on the verge of screaming. I seriously don’t understand why it is so hard for vendors to stick to their word. If you say you will email me, then email me. If you say something will be done by the end of the week then have it done. I get that they are busy, they have other things to do, whatever. But cmon. Just stick to your word. It’s not hard.

Or at least let me know why you can’t stick to your word! Like shoot me a text or email and let me know what’s going on. Don’t make me message and call you multiple times and mentally cuss you out before finally responding a week later 😆

Exactly. I always feel like a bridezilla when I email/call multiple times. But I’m honestly just trying to figure out what’s going on. Lol

Preach! I've been trying to reach my venue coordinator for a week now. It's like everyone is trying until you sign a contract, then they disappear never to be heard from again - or at least not as previously scheduled.

Dude I’m trying to get the venue to send me the contract. Actually what I want is a filled out piece of paper that says how much it’s going to be so the people financially responsible for the wedding can say “yay” and get a tour! And I’m trying to find a wedding planner to stick to their word.

We also waited a long long time for the contract, they blamed it on the pandemic, furlough and everything being in lockdown... But apparently nothing has changed.
All wedding planners I've spoken to have been trash. One could only speak to us between 11 am and 3 pm ("because being a mommy is my first priority") - dude, why would I need a planner if I had free time in the middle of the day? The second one was an Artist with a Vision, who unfortunately had little interest in our wishes. The third one forgot our Zoom call. The fourth one forgot our phone call and then lied about being in a car accident at this very moment - I could hear someone handing her her takeaway in the background. The fifth one came to our meeting half an hour late, with two toddlers, and hasn't listened to a word we said to her. The sixth one just suddenly stopped responding to emails. So we're not having a planner, because this has been way more stressful than planning it all ourselves.

So... Rant over. Sorry, it had to get out, apparently.

No please get it out. I totally get it. I’m really close to just planning this by myself too.

I’m dealing with a Hair and makeup artist not responded after I emailed to book her. It’s been a week and a half and two emails with no response. Initially she responded in a timely fashion then when it was time to book, nothing. This is the second one that I’ve had issues with. The first was responsive and awesome until I asked for a quote so I could pay the deposit and was told to see their prices online. So I moved on to this one, who I was glad to find because she’s more my style, but now I’m at a loss. How long do I wait? I’m afraid I’ll wait too long and will have to settle or not be able to find anyone.

PREACH! I feel this way about everyone, not just vendors! If something is going on, I totally understand. Just say "hey, I'm busy right now. I'll get back to you later." It's that simple!

OMG my venue is like this. I feel overbearing at times because I'm constantly having to ask for things twice. I don't feel too bad about it because how much money we're paying them, they SHOULD be better at responding but still. Its so inconsiderate of people's time, my goodness.

We just had this situation with our food vendor for an upcoming wedding on September 23 in Prescott Arizona. We were quick to pay a deposit to secure the date. A month before the wedding… I requested the vendor call me so we could iron out the final details. He said he would call at his convenience and then did not do so. I asked again for him to call and again he did not call at the time he set himself. I finally requested my deposit back so I could get someone I could actually communicate with. He still fussed about giving it back, and I said I would make sure to let everyone know the name of his company so as not to use it in the future. Completely unprofessional. If you have a reason for not being able to communicate at a time YOU set, at YOUR convenience, not the customer, just be honest about it!!! Ok…rant over! Good news….we found someone better so it was a blessing in disguise.
