Vendor not responding

Mariah, on January 11, 2023 at 10:49 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
I booked a vendor in August and I had emailed them asking to send their list of songs so that I could have for reference. They emailed me back immediately and said they will send it over Monday morning. I had forgotten all about it and so I emailed them in September asking them again to send it & I received no response. I emailed them again in December & received no response. Because I had the guy’s phone number I sent him a text to see if I would get a faster response & received no response. I asked my MOH what I should do & she told me to wait after the holidays to make contact again. This morning I called him & he did not answer. In each of my emails & text, I was super polite and have been patient as I have tried to make contact over the past couple of months. Even though my wedding date isn’t until May, I am very frustrated as I cannot seem to get in contact with this vendor. I need suggestions please.

Oh wow, that is very weird. I’ve had vendors be slow to respond, but nothing like this and not through various channels of communication. Have you been monitoring any new reviews on various forums to make sure they’re still in business/offering good service? That would be my first step to make sure they didn’t suddenly shut down. Also, do you have a contract with them and are there terms for cancellation? I would definitely at least start researching alternatives in case you need to quickly book someone else, even if you’re not quite ready to move on from them yet.

Yes the current reviews state positive things about them. Their social media has been extremely active on Instagram so I know they are still in business! I just do not understand why they have not answered any of my emails and texts. Once I sent my deposit and signed the contract, I have not been able to get in contact with them. They are a reliable vendor as my wedding venue has suggested in their list of vendors on the website and they have done a couple of weddings at my venue. As far as a cancellation, it just states that both parties have to fulfill obligations with exception of covid-19, disaster, etc. This vendor is a band for our exit so it was something special for my fiancé because I know he wanted that so I am not looking for an alternative, but would hate to have to lose my 50% deposit.

You could try to DM the Instagram account & ask whatever questions you have there. Another bride posted something recently about a similar experience & it turned out the vendor hadn’t received her emails for some reason. If no response after that, maybe start looking for other options & try to get your deposit back.

Calling them up is much more effective and they can’t miss it. Most vendors are available by landline, not text, and not everyone checks email daily.

I understand how you might be feeling frustrated, but I would suggest continuing to try to contact the vendor in a calm and polite manner but via telephone call so you have an actual real person to talk to.

Is it practical to pop in as a last resort?

In the meantime, try not to stress too much. Remember that things don't always go as planned and it's important to be adaptable. Your wedding day will be beautiful no matter what, and that's what's most important.
