Vendor Tips

Angmariee, on July 16, 2023 at 1:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
I will be getting married in 8 months, and realizes recently you are suppose to tip your vendors. I was wondering if bartending vendors and catering is required to tip them? Anybody else have this experience, please any advice will be of help! Thank you!

Yes, typically you would tip your bartenders and wait staff. Other people typically tipped: photographer, videographer, officiant, wedding planner, musicians, hair and makeup artist.

It really depends on your contracts. Our bartender/wait staff/catering staff tips were all included in our venue cost breakdown so we did not tip on top of that. Other contracts (hair/makeup, musicians, shuttle driver, etc) we had envelopes with tip money in them that one of my bridesmaids made sure each person got by the end of the night

Thank you both! I will have to double check our contracts, envelopes are a great idea!

Make sure you pay attention to whether tips are included in your contract, or if there is a service charge. Service charges are typically 15 to 20%, and usually do NOT include tips.

Bartender contractor is showing 6% service fee, 10% base gratuity.

Just don't allow bartenders to put out tip jars or solicit tips from your guests. That's your responsibility. Guests should not be taking out their wallets for any reason.
