Vendors

Hello: in searching for wedding venues I find the venue responds very quickly to my original request for wedding venue information. However, as a soon as I respond with questions they don’t respond back. Not a ton of questions … mainly what is the calendar of availability or is my date available and a couple others. Then I hear nothing back which makes me not want to pick the venue. They do say in the initial message to me, “let us know what questions you have.” So is this common? Trying to find a venue in southern CA while living in Seattle so much of this will be online or phone until I narrow down places. I can’t do that without knowing what dates are available. Advice?

I would let them know your intended date and number of guests in the first email, as soon as you reach out. "Hello, we are looking for a place to host our ##-person ceremony and reception on October 1st. Is that something you can accommodate?"

I would add all your questions and requested date in your initial inquiry. I know a lot of venues are swamped now with all the wedding postponements due to Covid so that’s probably why there is a delay in answering if they don’t think you’re seriously inquiring. When we went for our venue tour they had five couples coming in after us to tour that day so they were giving priority to people who had set dates in mind. Hope that helps!

Thanks jasmine. I did this in the initial inquiry and wrote back asking again the date with number of guests. I wonder if it is because I don’t live there in California and maybe they aren’t taking it seriously. I will just ask for a virtual tour for now and maybe that will get them rolling!

A lot of times vendors won’t see your message. For some reason WW and like apps similar don’t send the message right away or it gets sent to junk mail or it just doesn’t get sent. So I give it a few day after I message vendors on the app and then if I haven’t heard back I’ll send a like message request on their own site or I’ll send them a regular email just like “hey I tried to reach out via ww and unfortunately I haven’t heard back. I’m interested in (fill in service here) my date is (fill in here). I look forward to hearing from you.”

No problem. I often get vendors that say “ugh I never get my messages from there” or “ugh I never get a notification” things like that after I email them via their own site or just from the email they have on WW.
