Vendors/venues only taking checks for payment??

Zaina, on May 1, 2023 at 11:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Is it me or is the wedding industry still living in 1999??
My venue only takes MAILED checks as payment as well as my photographer. Every time they send me a past due invoices meanwhile I mailed the check a week ago. I'm getting a little frustrated because the mail hasn't been reliable and I don't understand why vendors still use this method of payment when they can very easily use Zelle and have their money immediately.

Just a rant! But as a younger millennial I'm very confused by all of this. I have to find a personal check, envelope, buy stamps, hope the mail will get it out in time.. and the vendor has to then deposit and hope to God it doesn't bounce instead of just getting an immediate payment.

Nowadays, it depends on the business whether whether they take checks or Zelle or cash app. I paid using a check for all my vendors except my makeup artist and limo. The reason that I did it way (paying by check) is because the bank will have a record of me paying my vendors and if anything comes of it that I didn’t pay I can go to the bank. In a since it is covering themselves and you. They want to make sure that the money is there. When you use Zelle or cash app anything can go wrong electronically and there is no guarantee that they will get it. In some case a paper trail is a good thing. As for my makeup artist and limo I used PayPal bc that is how the vendors set it up but I also have it set up with my bank to notify me of my transactions among other things. You have to make sure that the money is there.

Paper records. Zelle is being investigated for lost money. Anything $10k or more should be by way of check to protect both of you, and you can hand deliver if you cannot be on schedule.

Cash apps typically go awry and have fraudulent charges associated with them that are not as prevalent with paper records that protect both of you. Also, there are no fees for the vendors when dealing with “archaic” checks as opposed to modern technology.

Hi Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and wow mine took either or it didn't matter as long payment was made and then I was emailed receipt or got it in person. But it it's in checks then you have a paper trail of pf payments so they can't say that you missed any.

Oh man, count yourself lucky that you get to pay by check. We were forced to bring our final payments in CASH which meant carrying $10k on us into Mexico. I was SO uncomfortable and absolutely hated it.

Thank you! True! But I have paper trails on Zelle or honeybook too! Just surprised so many are old fashioned.
