Veneers, Bonding, Whitening?

Nicole, on November 22, 2020 at 4:32 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 7
I have had bonding and veneers on my mind for years now and with having an HSA account and postponing my wedding more than a year out, I think I would like to use some of that money for the process.

I only have two chips on my front teeth and I am leaning more towards bonding based on feedback, but my dentist is trying to convince me to do veneers based on shading. What do you guys think? I am also wondering how to do whitening so it looks great for the big day but will look as natural as possible long-term whether or not I get bonding or veneers.

Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of veneers, I work as an RDA, and I’ve seen the process and I wouldn’t do it to myself. For my wedding, I did crest white strips, and I also did Opalescence whitening from my dentist and it made a huge difference on my teeth. I have naturally white teeth, and don’t drink coffee or cokes, but still I could tell a difference in just days. If you’ve been wanting something and have a savings for it, do some research and get what you want done!

I would do maybe a half a box of crest strips depending on the shade of your teeth now; you don’t want your teeth glowing un naturally in your wedding photos that they overtake the photo! Lol just use your best judgment as you get closer. My best friend is a dentist and that is all she usually recommends.

I used crest whitening strips the week before the minimony and my husband and I also started using charcoal toothpaste which surprisingly helped a lot!

I would personally do bonding over veneers. Again, just my opinion!

I second this. Veneers are extremely invasive and involve shaving down your teeth, which just seems completely unnecessary unless your teeth are mangled or in super bad shape to begin with. Of course there are different types of veneers and for some the prep process is worse than others, but to be it just seems like a crazy thing to do to good teeth.

Whitening strips are pretty inexpensive and quite effective. I would try that first and see if you can get results similar to what you want without spending thousands of dollars.

Also, double check your HSA before counting on that money to use on your teeth. I have an HSA now but I used to have an FSA and every single dental appointment was a PITA because I had to send over all of my records to the FSA company to disburse payment. Why? Because you can't use the funds for cosmetic procedures and dentists use the same code for all sorts of different procedures, so the FSA always needed to verify that I was getting a cleaning or cavity filled or whatnot and not just whitening my teeth. I'd call your HSA company and confirm that you can use your HSA savings for whatever procedures you have in mind BEFORE you do them. Last thing you want is to spend thousands on veneers thinking you have the money in your HSA to pay for it and then find out it's not covered.
