Oh and you owe us additional $240.00 for a bounced check and early-cancellation fee. I then ask him can I bring you guys a money order or cash for the deposit. He says no our policy states that if any method of payment doesn't process we have the right to cancel the contract at anytime. We have made several attempts to contact you to handle the matter in a timely fashion. I never received a call/text/email or anything from your company. I will even screenshot the contact call list to prove. Ma'am that's not necessary , but we would like to tell you the $240 is payable with cash only. I then asked so when did you guys know the check bounced ?

Good that you checked your contract. I suggest you contact them in writing first before calling them to have a paper trail. And scan and send a copy of the signed contract in case they try to change their policies in their favor. After you contact them in writing if you don't get a response, then call them and refer to your written communication with them. Bottom line: cover your a$$.

There is no reason for small businesses to only take checks or cash. SO MANY options are available to small biz now for taking payments, including Capital One Spark Pay, Paypal Here, and Square.

That said, if she's aged and bouncing checks, someone else needs to be managing her money.

Sucks about the venue, I hope you work it out.

@FutureMrsKing, I don't think the banquet manager is lying about another couple booking your date. It wouldn't be in his best interest to have the date open. However I think maybe the venue were able to charge more money for this other couple so they were so quick to cancel the contract with you. And this could be the reason why they didn't try so hard to get in touch with you.

You checked your contract, so you should be good regarding the fees. But please tell your grandmother to use her check register. My grandmother still writes checks, but she deducts every check written from her balance in her check registry so it doesn't matter how long it takes for a check to be deposited, she has already accounted for the deduction in her check registry.

I am sorry to hear that. They are so wrong for keeping your check for a whole month it's not your falt they kept the check that long. And I wish you didn't have to go through that 6 months before your weddding. I pray you would find a place and that the other places is not going to have bad luck for doinh you wrong.

I have to say this. If I knew the deposit was going to wipe out my grannies account and cause a bounced check I would have NEVER used the check. I would have taken it, smiled, thanked her, and shredded it.

Also, I am just going to throw this out there. I hope your reading skills are much better than your grammar and writing skills. You may want to get someone else to write that e-mail Nay suggested.

Ms. Prada, you realize that businesses are in business, right? They make policies designed to eliminate the problems that they have and make everything clearer for every one on every side.

I'm glad you read the contract (I know for a fact that many of my couples never read mine.....) and if the date is rebooked, you shouldn't be responsible for that fee. i doubt that he's lying about that; it's a very popular date every year for every vendor.

Whatever you do, don't let this go to collection over 200 bucks. It'll dog your credit report for years.

Send them a letter restating the terms of the contract, particularly that it states the fee is in place if they don't rebook, which they have. Pay them the 40 bucks and ideally that will be it.

Everyone, please, please read your contracts. Every boring word.

Rebekah, although you may see it has helpful, your last comment was rude and unnecessary.

Rebekah her contract is written in proper English so I bet she can't make any sense of it. Not rude. Once or twice is fast typing mistakes. The constant terrible grammar is a sign that perhaps she isn't capable of reading the contract in full while understanding. Who expects the venue to not recoup losses when it's in the damn contract for any venue. Everyone charges a bounced check fee. Don't tell her to not pay it. Bad choices. The grammar is killing me don't take money from your old poor relative.

Now you're worried about a huge bridal party and no gifts on top of this. Have to wedding YOU can afford. Or put it off until you can have a lavish wedding, that YOU can afford.

Celia, I cannot agree with you more. I cannot tell you how many people come in our office upset about a contract they didn't read.

Advantage of CC's...reward points. When you pay cash might as well just throw your money out the door. Just pay the CC before statement closing . Smartest way to buy anything !

I hate when people hold checks. My baker held my check for a month! I was beyond annoyed. I hope everything works out for you two!

Rebakah & AndixLyn: How does that make you feel to come here and try to bash another person's writing and grammar skills ? Does it make you feel important or irrelevant ? Sorry dear I'm not here to write a English essay or get graded for my writing skills or grammar on a wedding forum. If you can't say something useful keep your unnecessary comments to yourself. The wedding party gift question was posted way before this situation occurred .You have no clue what goes on in my household .

LMAO Moving on to better news...........

Well-written communication on the internet is pretty important. We can't get mad at people for misunderstanding us when we don't communicate properly in the first place. Lots of things already get lost in translation online; bad grammar and/or typos just makes it harder.

    I'm just saying.

I love it SunshineJenn!!! I've been pretty good about NOT calling people out on the forum for spelling or grammar...but I spell check and correct A LOT of facebook statuses on my newsfeed and call THEM out for it!!! Grammar is a huge pet peeve but I do give people slack if they are using mobile sites like the WW one (because it sucks)

Look up irrelevant and take another look at your statement. You just proved the point of improper language skills.

And you're right. We don't know what happens in your household. Only what you post. Which is (paraphrasing) we have very little available money, how do we continue to plan a large event that's beyond our financial abilities
