Oh and you owe us additional $240.00 for a bounced check and early-cancellation fee. I then ask him can I bring you guys a money order or cash for the deposit. He says no our policy states that if any method of payment doesn't process we have the right to cancel the contract at anytime. We have made several attempts to contact you to handle the matter in a timely fashion. I never received a call/text/email or anything from your company. I will even screenshot the contact call list to prove. Ma'am that's not necessary , but we would like to tell you the $240 is payable with cash only. I then asked so when did you guys know the check bounced ?

Oh, and you are skipping wedding cake too and diy-ing that. To be clear, theres nothing wrong with having the wedding you can afford, and if DIY everything is what you can afford then go for it. But it just seems that based on all your posts, you maybe cannot afford the wedding you are planning, or the size.

Per OP, she banks with BOA. If I'm not mistaken, that's Bank of America. They notify their customers via email and written letter within 72 hours. OP said she was never notified. I'm sure she received a notice from BOA advising of the overdraft fee.

I bank with Bank of America, and I get a text, email and mail notice if ANYTHING goes awry. For example I have limits on the balance of checks that can be cleared and I get a notice if something goes over that.

Also, since Im in a stalky mood, I see you intend to have 150 people and only budgeted $350 for alcohol... this too is something that leads me to believe the above. And not all venues even allow you to bring in your own alcohol / food.

Have you thought about maybe pushing the wedding back a whole year? If so, it would give you 1 1/2 years to be able to save money...and be able afford the wedding you want. It sounds like right now you are in sticker shock, and need to seriously review the items you should or should not be spending money on.

It would be a poor choice to DIY food for 150 guests. Who would be serving the food to your guests? Do you really want to do it yourself, or have close family members not able to enjoy your day with you? If you take time to save, you would not need to cut corners on the people you care about.

    Thanks JK8115!

Okay, totally agree with you about everything. OP I feel like you might be trying to impress your family and friends but in all honest you and FH should really talk about what you can afford. If you want a big fancy wedding then post post it until you can afford it. If not then cut it down, don't spend all of your money and your grannies moeny trying to put on a show.

And there are others also to support my opinion, like asking her aunt to just supply desserts instead of a wedding cake, considering a dry wedding but then allocating $350 for booze for 100 people etc.

"You got no socks", a great saying from my Italian family. It means you try to show people you have shoes but you can't afford socks and your fee are cold. Get it?

Having this thread, the "I don't want to buy gifts for my WP" thread, and the "DIY food" thread all on one page is very eye-opening.

If it's BoA, then they definitely contacted the grandma, who, as is apparent, is forgetful.

    $350 for alcohol? D:

I just realized I've also never deposited a check from someone else that bounced. I have no idea what happens when a check bounces lol

Wow this pissed me off! When I have paid my venue and my card hasn't gone through the venue sends me an email right away until I fix it. That is ridiculous I would be livid. Maybe your better off you don't need those people. And please do NOT pay them the 240. They do not deserve your money.

Don't listen to Mrs.Laguna. You need to pay at least the $40 for your screw up, and maybe the $200 depending on how they want to interpret cancellation and your willingness to fight them. This is not worth collections. They CAN and WILL haunt you.

You admit you fucked up and need to take responsibility.

Now I will say, if the OP lives near a Trader Joe's, a lot of wine can be purchased with $350. So maybe she'll just have wine instead of hard liquor? Trying to find a silver lining...
