Vent-Is it horrible that I am dreading my wedding?

Someone at work asked me about my upcoming wedding today and it put me in a horrible mood. We are 53 days out and I feel like I will never be ready. Someone at work asked me about my upcoming wedding today and it put me in a horrible mood. We are 53 days out and I feel like I will never be ready. If we had gone with our original plan to elope we would have been married yesterday and be sitting on the beach in Florida today. I'm just tired of planning something I don't really care about doing, and I'm not even excited for the day, because I feel like I'm going to be so busy getting things ready and running around that I won't be able to enjoy myself. I feel like a horrible girl and a horrible bride. Please tell me I'm not the only person feeling this way?

It hasn’t gotten better for me. I’m four weeks away from my dress fitting and I’m still not excited. I honestly don’t think I ever will. It’s more of a marriage of convenience. I’m not changing my name, so all I have to do is update my pay documents at work rather than contact 100 places to say my name changed.

This was me literally until TODAY when we paid our final venue payment. We had planned to go to the courthouse but our local courthouse still has suspended weddings and my MIL pressured us into doing it, offered to pay for many things then DIDN'T. We're paying for it ourselves as well and that was enough to make this the most stressful experience of my life. I will say once things start coming together, it gets easier and you have emotional room to get excited.

Wedding planning CAN be fun but in my experience, it mostly wasn't. Just stress. I hope you get into the happy mood soonSmiley shame

This sounds so similar to me that i had to check if I had written this and forgot about it! Would love to know how the wedding went? I really wanted to elope in Mexico too, come back home and have a small celebration. I sat his parents down and eventually told my mom our plan and they were both applauded. My fiancé was open to either options but he is more of a traditional person so he was leaning more towards a traditional wedding. After seeing all the money he has spent I’m sure he now wished we went with eloping. I suffer really bad from social anxiety so I’m so scared of the attention. I will be taking Meds that day to relax but I’m still very scared. I wake up every night thinking, stressing about it especially the walking down the isle and first dance (hopefully I don’t pass out!). I pray I wake up that day on the right foot and I wake up excited and confident to deal with such a long day. We are now 8 months away from the wedding.

Omg. I'm right with you. I'm a courthouse kind of gal. My fiance's family is not.
